What's your 2 hour power as a percent of your FTP?

I’ll happily take your advice

Aug 2019, I did 277w for 1:54 in a 50m TT with a 1 hour power of 300w. (92%)

Feb 2021, I did 291w for 1:45 on the turbo (Polar Bear +1) with FTP of 330w. (88%)

I did 2h@299w this tuesday and 20m@351w today so I’m guessing around 90-92%

Mine was a similar percentage (80%) on a custom workout I called “sweet-spot, long and dumb” which had a trio of 4 minute breaks.

I’ve got no time in my LIFE (or training plan) to take a real crack at a 2 hour test, but I’d imagine 85-90% would be within range, 85% if that workout fit and I was training through, 90% or better if I tapered in, was willing to recover long coming out of it.

20 minute protocol is my normal FTP test, but sometimes I’ll cheat the system and bump up if a ramp pushes me over the previous 20 minute, and I didn’t have the time/motivation for a 20 minute rip.

91%, but wasn’t shooting for 2 hour power, so maybe 1-2% higher if I crushed myself, but I also train and race for endurance/>4 hour races.

I have Gibraltar coming up but this made me go search out the extra 15 minutes of pain and I found Polar Bear and Polar Bear +1

I’m wondering how your power curve has changed? Most of mine as far as “shorter” endurance is from ramp tests, with sprints more likely to have happened outdoors (I was sidelined by injury for 4 months last year followed by lockdown so most of my outdoor rides are now both historic and without power data).

Having listened to the podcasts where they talked about using your strengths learning from your power curve, I wonder if it’s taught you anything about your longer endurance performance?

I just did 82% of my ftp for 3 hours, but it had a store stop does that count?

Maybe. What did you get at the store?

I had brought gluten free pancakes with Nutella to eat, they were warmed by the heat of my body in the jersey pocket. I basked in the sun like a large lion knowing that on the ride home with the tail wind I could provide fitness gifts to the whole group.

Nutella? Counts.

Pancakes on the bike are better with cake icing but I was fresh out.

Not shooting for 2h power, i was at 81%.
Interestingly my 3h is not that much lower at 78%…

I could have done with one of those on Sunday
I did 75 % on Saturday non stop for 2hours then 84% of the FTP on Sunday for 2hours. Then pop. Half a banana got me home and thankfully a tailwind. By then, 2hours later, I’d fallen to 74 % :joy:

My 2 hour max power is the same as my 4 hour power, which was about 85% of my old FTP (did it just before my last rest week and FTP test). I have never specifically tried to go for 2 hours exactly…because nothing around me is like that (either 45 min to 1.5 hour climbs or 4+ hour massive Strava segments), but when I set that it was trying to do a solo 4 hour on the Uber Pretzel in Zwift.
But now you’ve given me an idea for a hard Zwift ride the next time the weather sucks

Polar Bear +1 looks a good one to try.Much harder than outside as absolutely NO breaks :grimacing:

One of my favorite TR workouts. I think I’ve only done the ramp test more than polar bear +1.
