Yep - good point - in my experience most people get injured in marathon training when they try to squeeze their training into the “oh…God I’ve only got 6 weeks to the race and I’ve done f*** all training” zone - if you have nearly a year you have plenty of time to experiment and work out what works best and it should be ok - as we all know the 6 P’s - Perfect preparation prevents…etc. I never had the attention span for such long term goals - I can just about cope with Base/Build in the off season to prepare me for UK time trialling - I don’t do speciality - I just start racing in the spring - a goal a year away would just be to ….distant
