Who knew Samsung supported ANT+?

I don’t own an S22. It was info I grabbed from Samsung Galaxy S22 full device specifications - SamMobile but it looks to be wrong.

I haven’t been able to make the S22 work with my ANT+ sensors, even after downloading the recommended ANT+ drivers. Everything worked with my old Galaxy S8, but no luck with the S22 so far.

What’s the ANT Tester app say?

The S22 doesn’t have the ANT+ radio hardware. Thus it will never work unfortunately.

Timely thread. I was looking tonight replacing my S8 since I wont be able to use it in the US in the near future.

I don’t use ant+ on my phone often but I’d hate to be without out it on an “upgraded” phone.

Ant+ is no longer supported in Samsung devices. Last ones were the S20 (phone) and the S7 (tablet)

Which is why I updated to a S20 and wont be updating to the new versions.
Not sure what I will go for when it finally dies.

Are you sure…? I think Samsung S9 does support ant+

edit: yeah tablet S7… tf:dr

Also keep in mind that while the chip on the device may support BLE and ANT+, the software in the device may not support its usage. And this is purely a product definition decision. It also cuts out the cost, however small, of licensing per unit and of course development/support for the protocols with other sensors. I believe some Polar watches are like that.

yep same here. i stumbled upon this threat while searching to see if anything had changed but no. really disappointed in samsung. they’re part of the ant+ consortium and just dropped all support after the S20. i’ve even been talking to the engineering team in korea and there’s little to no chance they add support again. why? who knows. for me it was the one thing keeping me tied to the brand…

Why cannot the S8 be used in the USA? It is not that old a model.
