1st Race Was A Podium For 2019

In a 35+ criterium from a late break of three for 3rd. Very hard fought with some really good riders so I’m happy with the result. Just finished a build plan and will start a specialty this week. The lack of sprint was evident at the end but, the break/bridge power is good (for me) thanks in large part to TR!

I followed up the 35+ with the P1/2 where I worked for my team mates. Ben Kanute was our man and it was an honor to work for him. I was on the front and off the front way more than any other P1/2 and rode strong doing my work until the very end. Only failing with half a lap to go in another three man break…I finished nearly last! Sort of did one of those efforts you see pros do when they lead out a climber then when they blow they basically stop. That was me. Anyways, super stoked with the effort and in part it’s due to TR.

So for those maybe wondering if it’s all worth the pain just keep turning the pedals. Don’t give up on the intervals and rest up. You’ll see results as well I believe.

Nice! Would love to hear you break down the win a bit more!

Just to be clear I was third in the 35+ and helped our boy win the P1/2…Sorry for the confusion. I’ll edit the title…

My bad. Either way, fun to hear about people’s training and how it translates

Excellent! Well done, sounds like you got as much satisfaction out of helping a mate as you did coming third :+1:t3:

For sure! It’s really fun to race with guys that know what and when to be somewhere. This was just a local race but, sometimes that seems so hard to find. Really nice to be a part of that for once.

I would say that being able to help as much as I did is certainly validation of the training which I’m stoked about as well. Makes me look forward to the specialty phase! I think there are some improvements that can to be made.

Which field you doing at VoS? One of the master’s fields or the cat 2? I’m planning on the 2

For the first time I can remember I did not get one week end day off in February. So not sure what to do. Trying to move days around but, not looking good. Probably race masters if I can lie cheat and steal some time off…Maddening!

Have to see where you end up, but I’ll be out there with some teammates for a few days before and the week after the race doing some riding. Maybe we’ll get to line up against each other

I hope so!
