2023 is going to be a fun year!
Edit: before anyone asks, no it was not $0.
Where is that? SoCal?
Utah, around Salt Lake City.
Mid week is such a god event just wish they forced people to upgrade. Last time I raced we had people in the sport category winners be faster then expert and around pro. So anything in the top 5 was just impossible. I went from a fast cat 2 on the east coast to mid pack sport.
Agree.
Iām very slow so Iām not mixing it up with the pointy end of Sport class, but I would compare their times to expert. The podium racers for sure could mix it up with the expert category.
That said, considering it takes the organizers up to a week to post results, clearly this event is more for āfun racingā.
Donāt hold me to this but Iām thinking of working on my fitness this year (same as every year lol) and maybe doing single speed next year.
The series is definitely fun first but its demotiving going into a race knowing you have 0 shot because people wont pick the right class. Either way Iām possibly going to be in town some weeks while doing some point to point training so Iāll definitely hit some midweek.
At least around here, different categories race different distances so it is not uncommon to see people drop down for the shorter distance, especially early in the season. But I can definitely see how if people drop down to poach a win how that is frustrating.
At this series, everyone except beginner races the same distance. Most courses are a single lap. So kinda marathon style, but shorter distance.
They do it to poach wins since the distance doesnt change with the categories. When I did it the person who won the series before and the free race season pass kept racing the same distance.
Not excited about this news, I really need to buy the current 100mm Epic then before its gone. Iāve tried the Evo and it did not seem as nimble and the rear suspension was either stiff or bobby, couldnāt get it like the 100mm Epic. And my back canāt handle the less capable new design if its around 60mm.
New sram AXS is coming out on 3/21
Anyone know the difference between the new S-Works Epic Evo RS vs Epic Evo?
Any more thoughts on this? or an idea of how much the cost is on these? Iāve been on a HT for so long, but slightly curios, without wanting to spend the big bucks. Plus this is the only properly XL open mold XL ive seen.
The 909? Or the 936?
I donāt have any more information sorry. Thereās definitely more evidence of the 936 being out in the real world and handling some pretty stout riding.
The local guy I know on one is an ex-EWS pro and epicly strong dude so if anyone was going to find the limits in a hurry itād be him.
I wonāt be selling my Spark to get on one, but Iād be seriously interested if I was to go out from scratch and build up something capable and light.
The DT Swiss shocks look great for these too.
RS just means rockshox
With specialized and trek rolling out new models this year, and a wave of new entrants such as the Exie and BC40, does Cannondale have to do something soon? More specifically, does anyone have any inside info in regard to when we may see a new Scalpel?
On that note, has anyone seen a 120mm lefty in real life? Not just photos or media posts?
The 2021 was new and 2022/23ās were just new paint. Iād expect the 24 to drop the AI offset and maybe something like the brain.
No, but I want a carbon 120mm lefty, if such a thing would actually ship vs being a catalog entry in the ether. Two in stock at Cannondale Experts
I always wanted a Lefty.
These days I have sorted of accepted it might be one of those, better to not meet your heroes type deals.
For the cost and rarity, paired with the maintenance requirements, it might be something Iād be too scared to ride.
I think they look fantastic though, even in the early days.
My buddy ordered a carbon 120mm lefty about a month ago through the local dealer. He had it within 7 days or so. Performance felt pretty impressive although I will caveat that by saying I donāt have much more than 30 minutes seat time.
