Affordable Steel Bike Recommendations

Hi all! I am in the market for a “new” bike and would love to hear your suggestions.

While I constantly search craigslist and the FB market for a bike to fit my needs, I am also open to buying new.

I am looking for a jack of all trades steel bike that I can commute, coffee ride, and do long weekend endurance rides with. It can be fixed, single speed, or geared.

My “only” limitation is my budget, I can only spend $1000 at the absolute max.

Buy the cheapest steel frame you can find that fits you. Then put on a new 105 groupset, buy a new aluminum wheelset, and there you go. a “new” bike.

I ride a 58 cm bike! So usually a large.
