I recently got a smart trainer and picked up an ant dongle to run TR workouts o and zwift together. I Was getting frequent dropouts with the dongle plugged directly into my laptop which is not quite in direct line of sight to my pedals. I bought a usb extension cable and ran it under my rocker plate a foot away from my pedals. Have not had a single dropout since I did this about 20 rides ago.

Like @Mylobearpup I have a USB extension cable. The cable runs from my Mac Mini, then under my foam floor tiles and pops out just at the trainer where I cannot kick/crush/step on it. Works a treat.
