App constantly telling me training stress is high

Background:
Been on a training plan since like, November (so nearly 3 months at this point)? FTP has gone down 2 watts. I have the plan set to medium volume, and I’m one notch up from balanced on the training approach.
For reasons I have not yet figured out, trainer road constantly thinks I am experiencing high training stress. A perfect example from yesterday:
TR scheduled a breakthrough difficult VO2 max workout (Gendarme +3) after coming off a low volume week (as scheduled by TR). I complete the workout without issue, rate it a Hard, which makes sense. It was in fact challenging but I was otherwise fine and in no danger of missing an interval or not finishing. Afterwards TR goes oh no!!! 26 adaptations pending and tries to make the upcoming 26 workouts easier (seems like the VO2 max sessions increase in TSS and the sweet spot/threshold ones decrease in TSS).

Why does this happen? I feel completely fine, and frankly undertrained. Despite doing all this organized training I would agree with TR that my FTP hasn’t budged.

What training were you doing before November?

Have you done a sweet spot workout since coming off the low volume week?

I am confused by the adaptations that “want to make the upcoming 26 workouts easier” but that “the VO2 max sessions increase in TSS”

What was you tss/week over the last month or 2?

You can always not accept them.

Sounds like it is changing your focus. More anaerobic work and less low intensity work. Trying to balance out the overall training stress.
I could be totally off. It’s a guess.

Hey there and welcome to the TR community!

I just ran a “refresh” on your Progression Levels to make sure everything in your plan was looking as we’d expect to see it. The Workout Levels for your upcoming sessions should look more in line with the Progression Levels you see on your TR Career page now.

Upcoming workouts will often be modified as you work through your plan. We’d recommend not worrying too far beyond your workouts for the current week as future workouts will likely be shuffled in/out as Adaptive Training proposes adaptations for you. Looking ahead can give you a good idea of what’s to come, but individual workouts are likely to change as you progress.

You don’t seem to have an abnormal amount of yellow/red days when looking at things from the perspective of Red Light Green Light, and the ones that I do see look like they usually fall on rest/recovery days (which is ideal). To me, that seems to say that your training stress should be pretty manageable right now.

I think the main thing I’d recommend focusing on moving forward is your consistency – some of your training weeks look bang-on, while others have 1-2 skipped workouts. If you can really dial in getting all of your workouts each week completed, I think you’ll start to see your FTP bumping up. :muscle:

Hopefully that helps clarify things – feel free to let me know if you have any additional questions!
