Battling back from a heart attack

Had a minor heart attack on December 7th. Stent was installed in the right coronary artery.
Have been attending cardiac rehab ( treadmill and stationary bike) for a month and a half. About one hour total time on the 2 machines mentioned each visit. I have also been on my trainer for a couple of weeks now. Every other day for about 45 minutes or so. Been trying to keep my heart rate down around 130 or less. I am a 170 max heart rate Ol guy
Dr gave me the go ahead to return to training but did mention that warming up will take longer.
I was put on a blood thinner ( aspirin) a beta blocker and a blood pressure medication. I also have to take an A1C pill even though my A1C was at 5.7 which is upper limit of the normal range.
Wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar situation? Just wanted to be aware.
Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated

First, glad you are still here and it was only “minor” (if there is such a thing!)

Second, I have a very good buddy that had a major heart attack about 12 years ago and probably should have died from it. He was a watt monster and could crush us all on the trainer during our group workouts at the local training center (pre-Zwift days).

He recovered and made a full return to training, including putting out some tears-inducing wattage on the trainer.

Listen to your doc, try and find a cardiologist who understands endurance athletes and be patient…

Good luck…keep us updated.

My doc is an endurance runner. Done Leadville a couple of times.

Fantastic…then he gets it. It critical to have someone like that in your medical support corner!

I have a friend that had a similar operation at about 55 years old. He kept cycling. Even won his state road race championship and qualified for his olympic masters division at 70… he is 85 now and still on Zwift or outdoors 5 days a week… He made sure he had doctors approval but I think he made sure he had doctors that understood the needs of a dedicated athlete… He even broke his femur in a fast group ride and was back on the bike in a cast in a week and that was at 78… so you don’t need to feel like it is over, you can have a long cycling career ahead of you…

I was coaching him and introduced him to the ideas behind “real Zone 2” and he has been forever grateful and he felt this helped him win his championships. Really it was all him  He’s a monster and I just dream about getting as consistent as he is. I am not a coach and not looking for students just giving you a bit of inspiration.
