BC Bike Race 2023

8 days to go…
I did my last MTB ride yesterday. Time to clean the bike and pack it for the flight.
The taper might be the hardest part!

A heap of Kiwi’s heading over this year and I’m very much looking forward to following along from afar.

Bike all packed and heading out on Fri. Covid is going through the household so trying my best to avoid that. Plan on a youtube video a day of the race from the middle of the pack. I should be able to put a few of these out during the race, time and motivation permitting. jaselikesbikes - YouTube

Weather on the island as been sunny and warm the last month and it looks like that trend will continue through BCBR. Trails are running fast, but definitely some loose pebbly sections given the warm weather.

Looking forward to a week off to ride bikes!

Looking forward to watching those at some point!

Here is hoping everyone had an awesome week and enjoyed the island riding! Great event, great routes, I definitely had a blast. (And very happy I don’t have to get on my bike today  )

Amazing week if riding! I can’t believe I finished - and with a smile on my face!
I went down trails I didn’t know I could ride down🤙
Was stronger on long hills than I thought I could be💪
And have decided to do some climbing in the winter to work on core strength- to get up and over roots, again and again…

Just watched the Stage 5 video. Awesome quality, well done! (Looks like you were caught in the mix on Race Rocks. That’s a hard enough trail to ride smoothly when you can ride at speed much less caught up in a bunch. Fun trail though!)

Thanks. It was good to video the event for a diary and to remeber some of the trails. Well done to you too.

what was the name of this race?

Thx. I guess it’s not the same as Single Track 6. since it has 7 stages.

You are correct, they are different events. I’ve done both and both are awesome, but there are differences. BCBR is coastal (COVID years being the exception), ST6 is in the interior/Rockies. BCBR provides packages that provide camping, travel between stages, food etc. ST6 you are on your own for all of the above. While both are be considered technical by a lot of the riders, ST6 is usually going to have more gnar across the board.

If you are looking for a stage race in BC, you can’t go wrong with either.

Sweet I’ll add it to my list. Not sure when but I’d love to do a MTB stage race as I’m not fast but I have endurance.
My next race is local : Ring of Fire https://www.mudslingerevents.com/ring-of-fire

I couldn’t do HC100 this summer because I got very sick 3 weeks before. Didn’t you race HC100?

Ring of Fire - still on my list!

I raced HC100 last year. I’d like to do it again one day, riding in Bend was fantastic. I think there is something down there in June also?

I raced H100 too last year. Not this year as I got sick just before.

Mudslinger has 4 races in/near Bend:

  • Sisters Stampede (14 or 27 miles, end of May)
  • Oregon 24/12 (mid July)
  • HC100 (mid July)
  • Ring of Fire (40m, end of Sept)

Another organizer had something in the spring called? chainbreaker ? but I haven’t found it.
I don’t know about one in June. There’s a triathlon but not a MTB race that I know. Let me know.

Are you doing RoF this year?
