I agree with this
You have your morning people (me) that has been conditioned to wake at 3am for work over the years. Now retired but still find myself getting sleepy at dark and awake by 4am. I did stay up til 10:00 last night waiting to see if Santa would come to our camp site. I fell asleep before he came. Darn…
Then there are the late night types (my spouse). Going to bed at 12:00 to 1:00 am and sleeping til 9:00 to 10:00 am.
We both function best when we follow our natural patterns.
Now if I could just fix the lite sleeper in me to be more like my spouse or dog and be able to fall back asleep in minutes after having to pee.
I have never been a morning person. Which sucks, because I have been forced to be a morning person my whole adult life.
First with the military. Then several mechanical contractors where we always start early (HVACR). Now my work shift starts at 6:30 and I bike commute.
If I’m lucky, bed by 9. Now that my commute is short, I’m up at 5:30. Working tomorrow, so I should go to bed now…
I try to be very consistent, and usually tend to go to bed earlier on weekends than weekdays just because it feels extra luxurious haha.
In bed by 21, wind down and watch some series until I pass out at 22.
Wake up at 08:00 usually.
There is nothing worse than being tired…
We try to get the whole family in bed by 830. My alarm is set for 4AM during the week. I usually sleep in until 7 on the weekends.
Unfortunately, due to having 2 kids under 4yo, taking a very strong diuretic, and recently developing insomnia, it’s rarely good quality sleep. I rarely have the energy to exercise.
Kids down by 8
In bed by 9.30
Asleep by 10
Up between 5.30 to 6 ish (usually don’t need an alarm clock)
I’m the opposite of most on here.
Go to bed about 11pm, fiddling on my phone for about an hour , then listen to podcast till I fall asleep.
Wake up around 8 am in winter , have breakfast in bed, do Sudoku ,then go and do horses
It hasn’t always been like this ,but I’ve always gone to bed quite late
That tends to be my bad habit too, before falling asleep to a podcast.
Bed: 11:00 - 11:30 pm
Up: 5:30 - 6:00 am
No alarm
I go to sleep around 8:15-30pm and wake up around 3:30-45am. After a little morning preparation and refueling, my training time is 2 hours from 4:00 to 6:00 on work days and 3 hours from 4:00 to 7:00 on off days.
I think I am a morning person because I used to get up before my parents got up and play by myself since I was a child.
Even now (in my 40s), it seems that I am still playing early in the morning.
How come you train at them times on your off days?
Ive mastered the art of getting out of bed quietly and getting bike stuff ready/out the door without waking my gf im usually back home before she’s had the dog out for a walk.
Yeah i should read more, i might put a book in the bathroom lol. I tend to do my duolingo before i sleep because its when i have time to talk out loud into my phone & also when i remember to do it. Maybe not great as sometimes my brain has decided to go to sleep by this point
My daughter is still very young and sleeping time is my training time. The only days we can train during the day are when we have weekdays off and while our daughter is at school.
Look up the concept of segmented sleep. This article might reassure you that waking up in the night is not something to worry too much about, people used have two sleeps for centuries:
Apart from the usual sleep hygiene advice the best idea I ever heard was that if you need an alarm clock you didn’t get enough sleep. For clarity, I don’t get enough!
I have 8-week old twins. I have no idea what any of your posts are talking about
In bed around 20:30 audiobook till I fall a sleep.
Waking up around 5 for work.
