Best Plan for 20 Minute Power Target

My target over the winter months (Australia) is to train back up to be able to average 300W for 20 minutes. I am just over 16 months back on the road bike after a 4 year break. I am 53 years old and my current FTP is around 255 at 77kg.
I have very little natural ability but can train consistently and follow a plan, if I had to choose one discipline I would say Time Trial type efforts are my “favorite”.
I have started with the Rolling Road Race plan which I like so far and will continue with. What would be the best plan to back up with when I finish the current one to help me achieve my target.

Besides whatever you will follow consistently and at the highest volume you can recover from, nobody knows.

I have two ~17 min hill climb races coming up. I’ve gone for a TT plan figuring steady state power is what I’m going for.

A 17 minute effort is basically like doing a 20 minute FTP test, so I wouldn’t think of this as steady state power. Theoretically whatever plan would lift your FTP is what you should do. This is short enough that VO2 max capabilities will come into play.

^^^ over unders. As in 120% over for a minute and then 90% under.

Welcome back to cycling. Your target may be aiming a bit high given you just have a few months. but who knows, just aim to follow a plan consistently and then see where that takes you?

While any plan will get you fitter, classically you would approach this as a goal for sustained power.
The prescribed succession would be SSB1, SSB2, Sustained Power Build, TT speciality.

I don’t think you’ll land far off with the rolling road race plan, so if you picked that and it works, great!

Word of caution, don’t bring up the volume too quickly.
