Building a training plan with unknown date for A event

I want to start building out my calendar with Plan Builder to peak for a local race here but unfortunately the calendar hasn’t been released for the upcoming season yet. I don’t want to wait to start training obviously and was wondering if I can pick a date I think is close to when it will be so that Plan Builder can do its thing and then change that date later once I know it. Will Plan Builder adjust my plan or is there a better way to do this?

Pick the same weekend as last years event and let plan builder put it together. When you delete and recreate your “A” event it’ll automatically adjust your workouts and dates as needed!

Generally good info here, but it’s possible to simply change the date for the A-Event. No need to delete and recreate it. Altering the date and saving the event will trigger a PB recalculation.

Thanks for the info. I wasn’t sure if Plan Builder could do that yet or not. Looked at an old post first but at that point it wasn’t able to. Is there any benefit to aiming earlier vs later with the date? The last couple years have seen the date vary from mid-July to mid-June and then last year first week of August. I’m tempted to put mid-June in to PB and if need be stretch it out a bit rather than August and maybe have to cut it short.

Sensible approach. The way that is often used to extend training time is to repeat base and build until close enough to time the specialty block to just before the event.
