Chain worn after only 3 months?

As far as I understand the OP, he had it serviced and they told him the chain was completely worn and needed replacing…but despite the bad state of the chain, there was no damage to the cassette or chainring.

Tbh I’d look for a new shop.

I’m trying to say it in a less provocative way, bro…

There’s a lot more to maintaining a drivetrain than splashing a bit of lube on it :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

To be fair all he said was that the chain was “thoroughly worn out” which could just mean that it was ready to be replaced not necessarily that it was totally shot to the point of destroying chainrings.

Also why people always tell me how clean my chain and cassette always are

I got 10k miles out of my Ultegra, further proof to never buy anything KMC. There was a big test of various chains which also rated most of them poorly. I will only run Shimano and SRAM chains personally

Sounds like he was doing a lot of dirt riding. This will wear your chain out much faster even with a good cleaning regiment.
