Continuous Press, Quick Intensity Adjustment [Feature Request]

On the mobile app, you press the (+) or (-) button to increase or decrease the Intensity, which works well enough in general. It makes it one percent jump per press.

But if you want to make bigger changes, it takes lots of presses to make big swings (like + or - 100 in some cases) to extended cool-downs and turn them into “endurance” intensity and length.

I did that very thing this weekend to add 20 minutes of endurance at the end of a SS ride. I had to press the button 100 times to get to 200% Intensity, and 100 times again to get back down to 100% for the final cool-down.

Can we get it changed so that holding the (+) or (-) button acts to run that number automatically until released?

Great thought!

I will add this to our list of possible features to go over!

Thanks for the suggestion, Chad!

I was thinking that adding double ‘++’ and ‘- -’ symbols next to current intensity adjustment buttons that could up intensity in 5% steps would be handy.

Maybe I’m not using the % adjustement correctly, but it would be nice to have presetted work adjustment instead of clicking on + or - many times.
Someting like:
150%
125%
120%
110%
105%
100%
95%
etc

Sometimes, at the end of workout, instead of working in endurance, I like to work around ftp, I need to do a lot of clicking. Same when I want to go back to 100%.

Nice job !

On the desktop app you can press and hold the mousebutton and it will count up/down until you release.

Not sure how it works on android/iOS.

Thank you, I’ll try to hold the button on my next workout, it will help !

  • Not well. You have to press the + or - button for every single percentage adjustment. It’s a royal pain if you change more than a few steps.

Nate and others already acknowledged this as I mentioned it in one of the 200% adjustment cap threads. I suggested a “continuous hold” on the button acting as a continuous add, that is common in other apps. I do think they have some solution planned, but no idea exactly what or how soon we may see it.

This is on the roadmap to implement. Both continuous press and remove the 200% limit.

Let me change the intensity factor quicker. the up and down buttons are fine, but you could make it so that if you touch right where it says your current intensity, it pulls up a number pad, and allows me to type in a new number. In this way, if I want to suddenly jump to 140%, or back the other way, I could do it very quickly, rather than pushing the plus and minus button over and over again.

How much closer is it to getting… say… in QA on the roadmap? lol

We’re rebuilding the mobile app so it will come out with that. The release of that got slowed down because we took resources off of it to get plan builder out before the new year. After plan builder is out the majority of our focus will be on the new mobile app.

Just doing a copy/paste from a separate FR thread since I didn’t know or see this already…

Great idea for FR! I was just thinking the same thing after a recent workout and was annoyed how many times I had to keep on pushing the “+”, I thought holding the button would work to increase and vice-versa, not sure why button holding didn’t work (on my iPad or iPhone).

Anyway, agree with this FR and would love to see a keypad and ‘back to 100’ for intensity changes!

I often tack endurance work on at the end of my interval sessions. When the end-of-workout wattage is low, you have to increase a lot in order to get to an endurance wattage. Example: last week I wanted to do 15 extra minutes at 65% FTP. The workout ramped down to 30% at the end, so I had to increase intensity to 217% to get to 65% FTP. That’s a lot of times to push that little plus button.

It would be nice to be able to use the keypad to just type in my desired level, rather than hitting the button 117 times. Additionally, it would be nice to have a “return to 100” button to quickly go back to 100% intensity level.

I’d recommend throwing your suggestion into this feature thread talking about possible solutions to the tedious intensity adjustment issue:

It helps for us to keep all related discussion in one place sothat we can find it easily when the time comes :+1:.

Just joined the forum today, and I’m glad I found this topic. Have been wanting to request this for a while.

I think the easiest and best way to handle this is with +10% and -10% buttons just below the +1% and -1% buttons. I could get to any desired intensity level in about 3 seconds with that (it really only takes me about 10 seconds max as it is, but when you’re cross-eyed with fatigue…)

Continuous press probably wont work as well, because over/undershooting is common with such a feature, and we’d be yo-yo-ing around trying to get it right. A number entry pad probably isn’t the way to go also because of the fatigue issue, and sometimes I leave the adjustment screen up and change it every 15 seconds.

Been using TR for a while now and super happy with it so far. Right now I’m often using the extended cooldown feature to add extra time to my rides, specifically using it to add extra endurance work. On the mobile platform this results in me having to hit the “+” button for the workout intensity like 500 times to get it up to the wattage I need; #firstworldproblems.

I know that I could just start a zone 2 workout after I finish but I like the convenience of finishing everything up and was wondering if there was an easier way of increasing intensity? If not, maybe this could be a feature request so that one could click the “watts” box and just input the desired wattage value there? Thanks for any pointers.

+1 for that. I use extend cool down a lot for added endurance. Entering the target watts or % of FTP once in a ramp down would be much better

I know i could use + versions to do the same or clone and adjust workouts, but this seems a simpler way

Plus 100 this one

When purposefully going off piste with an interval, or typically adding to the end of a workout, it can take quite long and be quite tedious (and difficult if working hard!) to press the % intensity adjustment buttons once for each 1% change. Could this be changed to either be able to hold down the buttons to cruise through the % more quickly, or enter a number on screen and confirm with a ‘Yes’? I get that both have drawbacks to consider and accommodate (particularly entering a number) but the current setup is nightmarish if for example you want to add short vo2 blocks to a session where you’ve extended the cool down! Thanks
