CycleOps Hammer: Problems with TrainerRoad Interaction

I have no info or suggestions but had a similar experience years ago. My Hammer is going on 9 years old and ~5 years ago I was getting disconnects (Zwift or Systm?) where I had to unplug it and plug it back in. I went so far as to buy a cheap remote controlled outlet so that I could reboot it without getting off the bike. Whatever that problem was it went away after a few months and hasn’t cropped up again in Zwift, Systm, Rouvy, or TR, but I haven’t yet tried the new TR/Zwift thing.

I’m not sure if it’s related, but with the new Zwift/TR integration, it’s evident how much better the TR-powermatch feature is vs. whatever is Zwift is doing. In Zwift, the Hammer resistance is somehow not as smooth… I have a hard time describing it. ETA: this is with the Sigeyi AXO as the power source.

Anyways, I find I have to power cycle the Hammer about every month or two, or I get weird random behavior.

I will say that the times I used power match with a pm it just didn’t work as well as letting the Hammer do it all. TR (or whatever app) sends the interval power, and the trainer internally does what’s needed to reach and maintain that. With power match, the app and PM are in the control loop with the PM read by the app, the app sends a command to adjust the trainer, the trainer changes, the app then checks the PM to see if its correct, and if not, then sends another command to the trainer and so on. My three PM are all within a 5 Watts of the trainer so I just go by the trainer’s power doing workouts. I think that’s plenty close enough for my purposes.
