After another weekend race where I manage to pop out the bar ends, but keep the ESI grip intact.

The wife ‘caught me with a new bike’. It was one she hadn’t seen in a while. So sure that she caught me, I had to explain that she saw it a couple of years ago when I brought it home. She thought on it for a minute, apologized, and walked away.

I was left wondering if I could use that again some day.

@robcow : Wait, was it really a new bike (b/c if so, people are gonna grab their pitchforks and torches and talk about trust and honesty and things like that…) or just that she didn’t recognize it so you had to give her an answer that sounded like a lie? That’s a lie that’s so bad it may just work, b/c nobody would come up a lie that bad and think it would work!

Hmmm. I was more wondering if I could use it too…

It was a fat bike I had bought for an event I did and hadn’t touched it in over a year. (It was a horrific event, and I didn’t even touch a bike for well over a week after it)

She said that she ‘thought it looked a little familiar’, so was maybe trying to guilt trip me? I ended up replacing the frame and it looked new and she realized it was essentially the same bike, which was odd, but maybe she was sorry for confronting me earlier.

Apparently use it sparingly? In my case, it was the truth…

At a local bike show/event, pre-Covid, I ran into the Park Tool rep. I asked him if they made a tool to disassemble Shimano SPD-SL pedals. He said they didn’t. I mentioned that the Shimano tool was like $10. He said, rather tongue in cheek, ‘If we did, it’d probably cost 30 bucks!’ then looked shocked that he said that, and we both laughed. Oh yeah, it would be expensive for sure. That blue paint is sure expensive, and that angel tear polish! Wow…

nah… amateur status for sure…

It’s such a terrible accident. Beautiful and historic win followed by a silly accident on the podium.

yeah I don’t want to see anyone get hurt and I am sure he was excited for winning but a blooper. Glad that he will be fine.
