Biketires direct lets you curate your gold offerings by giving them a thumbs up or down. I don’t have anything Sram. Does anyone know if I can thumbs down Sram offerings without affecting the whole category?
I have found the thumbs up and down thing to not really help at all and have stopped using it. I don’t like Castelli, for example, and I have given a few dozen products the thumbs down and I still get lots of Castelli.
Also, I have some things the thumbs down in the past because I didn’t need that type of product. I need those things now, and I wish I could reset the ratings. I now regret rating them, just in case it somehow blocks a deal I’d love to see.
BTD’s daily deal is on Prologo bar tape. It looks a bit like the stock Cervelo tape which is my favorite. Anyone used this and can compare?
Not really a deal but @IvyAudrain worked on some gloves from Handup.
I’ve never used the Prologo, but I’m really liking the stock Cervelo bar tape on my A Sparrow. If you like the Cervelo stuff then you’ll love Zipp Service Course CX bar tape. Like most cyclists, I’ve probably tried at least 20 different brands of bar tape and the Zipp CX is hands down the best. Of course N=1, but still if you’ve not tried I highly recommend it.
Make sure you get the CX branded one their other Service Course stuff is nowhere near as nice.
Thanks! And I haven’t tried nearly as many as you but fell in love with the stock tape on my aspero so trying to find it if/when I need to replace it
Cool collab. As an aside I raced with her this past weekend
She was sponsored by them for at least a few years. She was always giving out discount codes. I used it multiple times as I love their unpadded gloves.
This thread is for discounts for cycling gear.
Would anyone watching appreciate an insane wetsuit heads up, for tri ppl, or NO, that should be in another thread / no interest here?
Yeah, if it’s good for paddleboarding! lol
Sale on Mog Frameset https://planetcyclery.com/catalog/product/view/id/109146/s/enve-mog-disc-fame-54cm-sand/category/786/
Realistically, this thread is the “Deals / Sales / Discounts” thread for the entire forum. There really isn’t another thread. @mcneese.chad, is it reasonable to change the name of this thread to reflect that? Or is my understanding incorrect?
As for interest in tri deals/discounts, @Chris1982, YES please!
Some Melees in there too, not very many but a better price.
@AgingCannon cool.
I got a $1200 flagship model tri wetsuit for $49, new, from the mfg.
Xterra sells returned wetsuits direct, labelled as “Small Tears” , or “Medium Tears”. They were out of stock in my size for Small Tears, so I rolled the dice on a Medium Tears.
There is absolutely nothing wrong w the suit, other than the person obvi stored it folded up instead of hung properly; there are some deep & permanent creases in some spots.
On further reflection; they aren’t going to sell & ship a suit that is unusable / garbage. They would just make everyone pissed off, for no reason. It can’t be torn in half across the chest, or all the way up one leg or something. Obviously. Right??? Everyone agree? Or no, could get a garbage suit?
It will probably have a couple finger nail rips or tears that you will have to glue or repair with Gear Aid’s wetsuit patches. Who cares??? You just saved $1150. You can buy a freaking bike for that!!!
I can’t guarantee anyting, obvi. But 100% recommend. Hell, if it’s “too damaged”, repair it, and then sell it for $ 300 !!!
I don’t know if a name change is needed, but will keep that in mind. I think swim, run, tri and other fitness stuff are all fair game here. If we tweak the naming, changing Cycling to Fitness may be the easy button.
Thoughts?
Just remove “cycling” and leave it as “Stuff”.
GF got one of the blem/returned xterra suits years ago. I think she had ordered a middle of the line one. Gets an email a day or so later like sorry we are out of stock, do you care if we send you a blem of the top of the line instead, same price? She still hates swimming in wetsuits but it was a damn good deal. Keep forgetting about that, I should check check for a new full sleeve.
Similar, Manduka (yoga stuff) has a line of blems for a discount, not as deep as xterra but I just got a new mat and I cannot at all tell what the possible issue is with it. Best I can tell is its cut slightly askew but every time I try to check I just go cross eyed trying to follow the lines.
That seems rather open to me. Are we allowing deals on TV’s, furniture, vacation trips… ie anything under the sun? Or are there limits to the basic direction within the typical bounds of the TR forum?
I see “Fitness” or any other refinement as beneficial vs pure “Stuff”.
I’ll gladly take tips on great deals for a TV…
My guess is most people would stick to fitness type posts, but either option works, IMO. You wear the big hat so you get to make the big decisions.
LOL, I have set the hat aside more often than not in the last 6 months. I keep to the minor stuff and let TR handle the rest
