I would have gone simply with “Deals / Sales / Discounts” since I think it’s implicit and fairly obvious that it would refer to the things truly relevant to the TR forum. But making it explicit by changing “cycling” to “fitness” works too.
I think this is not the first time we’ve seen this kind of question, as to whether other sports stuff is fair game, which prompted the thought of a name change. Personally, I’d love to see deals on anything related to cycling, running, swimming, or strength… all the stuff we talk about on this forum.
For TV’s and other things, there are plenty of other ways to stay informed and we’d all drown in the volume of posts if the scope is too wide.
It’s a distinction without a difference, really. But we see rather straight forward topics head WAY into OT territory (memes ) even with specific naming, so…
Works for me. Just make sure it’s in the “Uncategorized” category (ie, the Off-Topic section) and named clearly. These two threads will show in the “Latest” results so we need them easily identified.
Hah I meant just a thread that was off-topic meaning anything (within reason) goes. E.g. a place for the car talk, ball sports, what you had for dinner, non fitness deals, etc. Sorry I wasn’t clear.
There are already a number of car, pet, drink, food and other non-cycling topics already present in the “Uncategorized” section. Those are good IMO since they still focus on a topic so the expectation of content is clear.
If you are talking about an “anything goes” type of topic that is more stream of consciousness flow, have at it. I can’t stand that approach and won’t take part or maintain it. That apparently works for many since that seems the norm for Discord type sites, but it’s a disaster for my linear brainwaves .
All that above shows there seems to be room for those non-cycling/training related topics as those exist and in some cases thrive right here already.
I am not aware of any topics being totally removed unless they violate the forum rules. So it’s just a matter of what people do & don’t bother to make for topics.
