Fox and Rock Shox use magnesium alloy for their higher end fork lowers as well.

I considered mentioning that since that was super common long ago, but wasn’t sure on the modern versions. I actually visited one of the metal casting shops that worked with RockShox to make the first cast version with integrated legs & arch. Cool tech there and progression of that product & process over several decades.

Lunt? I did a summer there. They did sunroof frames, power tool casings, RS lowers, and a bunch of other stuff.

Just came across this:

$99. I have this pump and it is one of the best $100 I have spent on bike gear. Perfect single pump for MTB and road bikes.

I got it on the most recent sale (2 weeks ago  ) and like it other than feeling the hose is shorter than I’d like and have on other good pumps.

Yup…I got that pump last year some time and it is great.

My only complaint with Silca pumps is that the pressure gauges feel like they belong back in the 80s. With today’s tire widths / recommended pressures, they top end range (up to 200+ on some pumps) should be brought down, and the resolution of the pressure gauge markings (e.g., add 2psi / 1psi tick marks) should be increased

I really like mine, but I regret spending the extra money on the Hiro chuck. I recommend their product, but I’d buy the regular chuck.

I have the Superpista digital floor pump (present from my wife), and I really like it, but the changes I would like to see:

  • Change the range shown in the pressure graph to top out at 50psi / 100psi - have this user selectable
  • Add Bluetooth so you could have several preset pressures - gravel, road, mtb - and use this to switch the resoluation of the pressure graph

I go back and forth on the Hiro Chuck, and I even bought the “regular” chuck. The Hiro works really well for tubeless setups where the valve stem is bolted in place. On my road bike, where I’m using latex tubes without threads, the Hiro chuck is so-so.

I saw the Superpista Digital is on sale for $100 off. Definitely tempting. I have a Spec Air Tool Comp with a Hiro chuck that I have been using for the past 6-8 years. I like it but it is kind of hard to tell exactly what pressure I am at so I have to use the Topeak Smartgauge to dial in the exact pressure. It’d be nice to just dial right in on the pump. Especially with mtb tires where it seems like 2 psa (which is what each tiny line on my current pump is) can make a big difference

The Terra pump linked above (left) fixes the 80s-style gauge (right). The big numbers are sooo much better for my eyeballs.

I have the Topeak. It has big numbers too. Hardly need readers to see the numbers.

Yeah, that thing is great if adjusted juuuust right and if its outside of that its frustrating. Presta cycle’s chuck is better

And then you move to the next stem and it needs to be adjusted again or it will come shooting off into your wheel. :man_facepalming:

Bike24 in Germany has a deal on the 19mm inner width Campagnolo WTO wheels, I think I saw some rim brake versions, but definitely disc brake wheels with freehub options available in 60/45/33 depths. Looks like about $1000 after making the conversion, not counting any import duty to the US.

I love my Campy wheels, and couldn’t resist but I do have an older disc brake bike I intend to ride into the ground that is a bit tight around the rear wheel with these modern wider rims.

Really tempted, although the potential in hundreds of dollars in import taxes is still worrisome

My old Planet Bike(?) pump puts the gauge at the top, not sure why more companies can’t do that.

Nice pumps are nice and all, but I plumbed an air line from my compressor into my bike room last year, and it saves me a lot of faffing about when trying to get out the door.

Light bicycle has 10-15% off their carbon spoke wheels and 5% off other builds for the next 10 days. I’ve never purchased a set there but wa playing around and you can get a 986 gram wheelset (AR25 with carbon spokes) for just over $1000 usd. Really tempting to get a pair for climbing days
