Elite Zumo Trainer

That’s great to hear. I’m planning on doing the same with my assioma pedals. Did you notice any increase to lag when using the power meter link?
Have you compared it to using trainerroad powermatch?

I haven’t looked at the lag to see if it’s any better. It’s better than the TR powermatch as its hardware based as opposed to purely software.

See TRs feedback on it…

Another positive here, I’ve had mine for nearly a fortnight now and I’m really enjoying using it. I haven’t connected it to any other power source yet, need to move my Assiomas maybe and give the PML thing a try. I like the fact it’s forcing me to use a higher cadence as I slip into the 80 to 85 rpm range indoors, I’m up at 90 now with this thing.

I’ve decided to switch bikes over, so I’m awaiting delivery of a Shimano R7000 11 cassette before I can hook the bike up.

One thing to note; the four bolts that come with it are not all the same. Two are slightly longer…Might save you five minutes faffing about

Once done I should be PowerTap/Zumo linked to iPad for TR and Power Match. :man_biking:

Also Zumo + Apple Watch linked to Apple TV 4K, and PowerTap P1S linked to iPad, for powering a.n.other app while I’m training long rides.:man_mountain_biking:

Are you all using your big or small chainring in erg mode? I’m not sure which is better.

Big ring always, usually circa 90 rpm, 54 x 15, 16, 17 ish.

Thanks.

Okay, I’m doing something wrong - 15mins was unbearable, 30mins and I’m broken!

First it won’t calibrate - I tried with Zwift twice and with TR three time, each time it says “Failed”.

I did the warm up with Zumo attached to Zwift riding in London but I couldn’t keep the power to target (I’m assuming Zwift changes resistance based on gradient or something?)

So then I attached P1S pedals and Zumo to TR. Power Match set to Auto (because there is no on or off, just Auto, Manual and Disabled) And In Erg mode.

Power yo-yos madly, settles 45W above target like Vo2max so I could not keep that up.

I tried unpairing the Zumo, I tried resistance mode, I don’t know what to do next.

Plus it makes an awful noise - I don’t know how it should sound but I figure it should be worse than my dumb Tacx, and shouldn’t sound like grinding!

Help…

Have you updated it to the latest firmware with the upgrado app and used the myetrainer app to calibrate it?

I’ve updated to firmware (from 190 to 191), but I can’t see a menu option in the my e trainer app to calibrate it.

I recommend the @GPLama You Tube video. I don’t believe you can be paired to Zwift or TR while you do the set up and spin down through the app.
There is a menu called advanced configuration, if you don’t look carefully it’s easily missed.

I have been using Zumo for almost 4 months now. I only have good things to talk about the trainer. My two cents are: Always wear on the small crown with the cassette in the middle. I always use Ant+ connection. Latency is smaller and more accurate than BT in my opinion. I always use the powermatch on for TR to get the power from my Vector.

Following is a print of my calendar as a reference to the accuracy of the trainer.

PS: The trainer is very quiet. If you are listening noise, your bike may not be securely attached to the trainer or the trainer may be defective.

PS2: The failures on the 18th and 25th are my fault. VO2max workouts are killing me.

@brunogfm

Have you tried the direct power meter link with TR?

No, and I won’t even try. The powermatch already suits me perfectly.

After spotting the “advanced configuration” in small writing at the bottom I got two calibrations done with that - any idea if these values are reasonable?

I then did Pettit with my P1S pedals and Zwift ride with the Zumo. Zumo was consistently reading 25-30W lower than the P1S.

E.g I rode consistent cadence developing 150W on P1S/TR, showing as 125W on Zwift.

It seems consistent which is what matters most, but reading so differently will be a pain when I’m trying to TR and Zwift together.

I also retried calibrating in Zwift and TR and both still fail.

TBH I haven’t put my Assiomas onto the bike I’m using with my Zumo so I can’t comment tbh. I guess I ought to just out of interest sake. All I can say is that my sessions feel the same as before when I was on a KK Road and a G3 hub as my power source.

First time it was forcing me 45W too high, now it’s reading 30W low…maybe it’ll be bang on next time

I’m going to do my next Ramp Test in Erg and see what I get, I’ll know then how accurate mine is as I’m pretty clued into my FTP…

First ride on mine last night and i’m pleasantly surprised with how close the power readings were to my favero pedals even without doing a spindown calibration.

I’ll be either using TR power-match or the zumo’s powermeter link going forward though - so will be experimenting to see with one works best for me.

Couple of questions for other owners though…

  1. Does your trainer rock from side to side or to the left and right feet always touch the ground?

  2. What front wheel riser are people using (if any)
