Compare the Watts
Here are some basic considerations related to different power measurements between devices:
- Location:
- Where you measure power can impact the actual power data captured, which is important when comparing data from devices at different points in the power production lineup.
- Bike:
- Pedals, Crank Arm, Crank Spider, Crank Spindle, Wheel Hub
- Smart Trainer:
- Internal for Wheel-Off as driven from it’s hub and drive system
- External for Wheel-On since it comes after the rubber tire connection
- Method / Type:
- Single-sided like Pedal, Crank Arm, Crank Spindle power meters (one leg measured then doubled)
- Dual-sided like Pedals, Crank Arms, power meters (both legs measured independently)
- Total like Crank Spider, Smart trainer, Wheel Hub (single measured as value via both legs)
