Feature Request for outdoor rides: 3 sec countdown on intervals under 15 sec

On short intervals, especially 6 sec intervals. It would be nice to have an auto countdown post lap button to gear up. Right now you have to press the lap button to start the next interval which is nigh impossible if you’re trying to get out of the saddle for Z7 sprints.

What ends up happening is your six sec effort is 1-2 seconds delayed throwing off you avg lap power.

Sounds like a setting issue on your part. I recently did an anaerobic block with outdoor workouts and never had to push the lap button and get a 3 second (maybe 5) countdown. I’m using Wahoo Roam.

Could be a Garmin feature. I like the lap button on rest intervals in case you don’t make the turn around in time. Ie, if I’m doing 3 x 8 min at threshold with 3 min recovery, I may not make it back down the mountain in time to start the next interval (I usually do). IN that case it’s nice to have a few seconds in case you get stuck behind a car or don’t make a U turn in time.

The lap button option doesn’t always come up, but does on certain intervals. If it were a 2 hour Z2 ride for example, you’ll never be prompted to hit the lap button.

It’s what TR sends to Garmin. My workouts come from TrainingPeaks and by default they play without any lap button interaction.

Im not sure what I am doing wrong but the lap button on my 130+ during a workout is awkward and sometimes I have to stop and unclip before I can press it. Yet off the bike the lap button is perfect and just takes the slightest touch. I could do with what I think @AussieRider is describing.

Yeah it’s kinda annoying. From memory (haven’t done an outdoor workout for a little while) I hit the up or down buttons (830) on the side once the timer starts and it gets rid of it.

I don’t mind it, except for very short sprints where I’m likely to start out of the saddle. Tough to do a 550w 6 sec sprint having to first press the lap button. :joy:
