It is pretty quiet for what it does. No louder than my trainer.
Exactly the same as my new place then
614 – That’s a proper basement gym. Well done.
Everything everyone mentioned, but especially wireless BT headphones. I remember when I changed over from corded headphones to a pair of JBL Reflect BTs, it’s freedom you don’t really appreciate until you get them.
Now I’m eyeing a pair of truly wireless headphones
Yeah, I agree. I hate when I sit up and drag the iPad off the table, dropping it to the floor because I forgot I was connected by
Wireless (bluetooth) noise cancelling headphones are good, they seem to handle the trainer noise pretty well
I got an equal pair of inears and a NC-Overear Headphone but I do not like these REAL inear when I am sweating. I got a very stable iPhone mount on my bike and so I got no problems using the standard iPhone inears which do not close the ear
Yeh, I mean, I’ve been using in ear style headphones since I was in my teens, so it never bothered me.
I do keep some isopropyl wipes (like you get before an injection at the Dr’s office) to clean them up occasionally and I’m not shy about washing them with soap and water in my hands.
The move went well and most of garage is now cleared of boxes.
Things are starting to come together.
Resurrecting this thread.
I’m moving this summer and it looks like my trainer setup will need to go into one side of the garage.
-
Short of building a permanent wall, what are the best ways to isolate it from the rest of the garage? I’m especially concerned about dust and debris damaging the trainer.
-
What are some options for cooling the garage if I can’t cut a hole in the wall for an AC unit? The only door leads into the house. There is a garage door on the far side.
-
What else should I be concerned about?
I don’t know. Call me an amateur in this cycling thing… but I’d avoid cooking the garage while training. Seems like a bad idea.
He is taking the high fiber diet seriously. How long do you marinate a garage?
For cooling you can vent a portable ac unit though a window, the screen of a side door, or even under the main door.
Fat thumbs. Doh! LOL
Under the main door I think is the only option as there are no windows or doors (other than into the main house). Maybe I should look at one of those shed options …
Im in Scotland as well and my garage is a pretty standard new build garage, concrete block, standalone from the house. In the winter it gets down to 3-4 degree Celsius and only need the one fan for interval days. I still end up sweating loads and riding in pretty much just tri shorts. My feet do go numb though as its sitting on a concrete floor. I leave all the TR electronics (laptop, monitor etc) in there year round. In the summer it gets to between 13-20 Celsius on the warmest of days so i have 3 fans (need upgrading though). Ive not found humidity to be a problem.
Can you run TR to your TV there? If so what is the connection? Don’t want to wear my reading glasses when I spin so phone or iPad won’t work. I have a 24 inch smart TVs in garage I wanna use.
TR won’t run on any of the TV apps. You need to use any of the regular methods like AirPlay and HDMI cable conversion from a TR compatible device to the TV to see TR on a big screen.
Yes, you can just run an HDMI cable to broadcast on the TV
Here are two more:
- AirPods Pro (since the Pro have noise cancellation)
- plenty of cheap towels
