Garmin v TR stats

Hey. Recent outdoor simulation. 3 x 9 min hill reps instead of 5*7mins @105%.

Garmin and TR reports differ greatly. Any ideas why?

I would hazard a guess that the power zones on Garmin are set different than that of TR.

Yes, confirm you have the same FTP set for starters. Then compare actual zone designations.

Ftp is same for both.
Must look into zone settings.
TR use coggan, right?

Yup. I think I have them set correctly per my Google sheet.

See the % of FTP section for reference. Note, I use the same value for my zone splits instead of the 94-95 as in some sheets.

Cheers for info Chad. Can’t seem to find what power system Garmin is using. I’ll keep looking!

It’s in your device settings on the Garmin Connect website, under User Settings. It may not be viewable from the app. You can adjust the zone percentages to whatever you want. I’m not sure what the default is because I’ve changed mine to match the TR zones.

Done. Hopefully it’s resolved now! Still matched tss so happy enough!

Yeah, the TSS is linked to FTP, so that will be good as long as the match, regardless of the zone splits.

Hopefully you can see and possibly match the zones and get parallel data.

Yup. Obviously didn’t spend enough time above 105% but still got a decent workout! And sunshine!

Thanks all.

I never look at zones in Garmin Connect, so hope that works for you. Let us know the results!
