Giant TCR 2025 and Tarmac SL7 tyre clearance

I’m looking at getting either of these bikes and want to run 32mm GP5000S TRs on a 25mm internal rim, so will probably blow up to 34/35mm. Anyone know if these frames would fit them? Thanks

Sl7 lists 32 as max and the giant at 33mm.

However you can probably fit 34/35 just fine on both you will just be getting close to 2ish mm of clearance on either side rather than ~4.

Yeah, I can’t find if those stated clearances are measured tyre width or stated tyre widths with extra room

I’ve got two sets of GP5000 (AS and S TR) 32mm tires on 25mm internal rims, and they all measure right at 33.8mm-34mm wide. They clear just fine on my Aethos, SL7 and SL8 with 4mm all around… A 35mm stated tire, that measured more like 36mm or 37mm would not fit with any wiggle room to spare.

The TCR will definitely fit it. and I’ve got a frameset for sale if you want it :sweat_smile:

I run 32 Turbo Cottons on my SL7. No issues.

Have you by chance tried the 25mm internal width rims with 30mm tires? I’m considering a wheel set with the same internal width rims, but not sure if this combo would work with my 2021 TCR with 32mm tire clearance.

I currently have a set of Gp5000 S TR 30mm tires on 25mm internal hooked rims on my SL8, they measure out to a full 31.9mm at 50psi. I know Giant updated the TCR at some point in 2020 or 2021. I had a 2020, with external brake hose routing on the fork, and there would be no way this setup would fit in there, but perhaps in the revised TCR…

Thanks for this. That’s right on the edge–a bit of a risk, but one I’m not unwilling to take.
