Hey all,
I’m looking for some fast friends to play bicycles with in the Santa Barbara area. Anyone know of any clubs, teams, or spicy group rides down here?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

As a former resident of the area, I can give you some insight. There are group rides starting from the Dolphin fountain, which is the main meeting point for almost all rides.
The one’s I rode on, would start at 7AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, led by the owner of Fastrack Bicycles, Dave Lettieri https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Lettieri . He’s a good guy and it’s a great group.
The Tuesday ride is a coastal one that goes out and back to Ventura, approx 50 miles. Somewhat low intensity, or tempo…depending on your fitness.
Thursday is the “lake loop”. Approximately 70 miles around Lake Casitas, in a CCW loop down the coast, and then inland for climbs.
Saturday, there are various groups, but the one I rode most, and could get spicy is the 7:30 AM Lake Loop going CW, so the climbs are first, then up the coast. Lots of strong riders.
Those in-between days are usually rides up Gibraltar, either out and back, or the “ridge loop”…40 mile ride with 4-5K of elevation gain.
Sunday there is a group led by team Echelon, that has a route that goes down to Rincon point and back. That leaves at 8:30AM from the bath house.
If you’re becoming a resident, then you’ll establish friendships from these groups.
I miss all those guys and gals, and you’ll finding that SB is a real cycling paradise.
Thanks so much for suggestions @pcMODcycle, I really appreciate it.
Looking forward to checking these out!
You’re welcome!
I forgot another great ride. They call this one Tuesday’s Views and Brews. It’s an afternoon ride, usually at 5PM…if you’re on Strava, here’s the link:

This can be mellow, or a little intense, but not spicy. Good people as well, and they finish up at a local brewery which usually has a taco truck as the end of ride reward, as well as good beer.
Have fun in SB…I miss the place dearly, but don’t regret leaving.
