I’m going to Mallorca end of next week and I’m trying to figure out where to find good group rides in Puerto Pollensa and Alcudia, but all I can really find are rides put on by tour companies, so I’m not sure if they’re the same as proper, regular group rides. Any ideas?
Pro Cycle hire do rides I think.
I’ve just rembered there’s a group ride that meets at Tolos too
We’re just back from a week at puerto pollensa. There’s a weekly group ride with these guys from pollensa town which is just 5km away…
Also check out the following as theres lots on info about group rides …
Thanks folks for the replies. Best bike shop in Alcudia?
We always stay in Puerto Pollensa so can’t help you there sorry.
I mostly stay in Porta Pollenca too except for when I did the 312 six years ago when I did stay in Alcudia. I can’t remember any bike shop visits that were necessary but I can recall the Assos Discount store and I see there’s a bike shop there too.
I’ve tried searching up everything I can think of, but I can’t find anywhere that shows when Sa Calobra is closed during the week (assuming I’ve got that right that it’s sometimes closed to cars). Is there a site that shows that schedule?
I think your confusing Sa Calobra with Cap Formentor. Cap Formentor has car restrictions.
If you’re on FB I’d recommend joining this group…
There are a couple of bike shops in Port d’Alcudia, both near the Lidl/Burger King roundabout, almost next door to each other. One is a small place (Sport Bequi) but less corporate, right on the roundabout, across the road from Lidl, next to a charity shop, doesn’t look like much from the outside. There is also Bimont, just down the road towards Eroski, impressive showroom, expensive kit etc.
Sa Calobra has restrictions on coaches, they can cause mayhem on the switchbacks, no restrictions on bikes as far as I am aware, never encountered any. Cap Formentor is having significant work done on it right down at the lighthouse and was closed to traffic/bikes at Easter, don’t bother going unless it has totally reopened, horrendous.
We were there 2 weeks ago and cap formentor is fully open again.
Great news, might be revisiting in a couple of weeks.
I wish i was. Im not there again until March next year
I have been here the last 2 weeks of April and the bike shop/rental shop/ cafe “pro cycle” they go by cycling in mallorca on instagram have a group ride 100km routes every Tuesday at 9 am.
Also there is so many cyclists here that you could literally just tag along a giant group for the day.
I rentes bikes from “mallorca bike hire” and they were great to deal with and had lots of cycling equipment and gels/drink mix ect.
Mallorca is a cycling paradise and has a bike shop and rental spot on every corner.
Enjoy
