GRX Power Meter Options

Just get a mate in USA to order it for you. Im in SF and can help you out.

Just remember that the P2M will only work with Easton chainring configurations that include a spider. So it wonā€™t work with their sub-compact gravel rings.

Yeah, you may need to purchase new chainrings. P2M offers Praxis sub compacts.

Finally! It all worked out pretty well. Had to use some spacers on the drive train to avoid contact between the spider and the frame.

Just to follow up. I ended up sending my crank to stages and it just clears the chain stay on my felt breed. So far working great and was easiest and cheapest option. Note they have been delayed with their pre-installs, so sending the crank was only option. Less than 2 weeks door to door.

And now that Iā€™ve used it, Iā€™m anxiously awaiting the right side. Nothing like having zero power rating when doing single leg drills. :stuck_out_tongue:

I am seriously considering buying a Breed and going this same route. Were you able to send them the GRX 600 crank arm that comes on the bike or did you upgrade to an 800? stages recommends 10 mm clearance between the chainstay and crank arm prior to install, did you measure before sending it in or just go for it? Thanks!

I did upgrade to the 800 crank - I needed shorter cranks in any case, and liked the weight reduction. Stages doesnā€™t support putting on a 600 crank, due to the machining.

I went back and forth with stages a number of times with measurements, pictures, etcā€¦ They were great. They do now have pre-installs for sale, which are returnable.

It fits, I have had no issues. It is very close in one specific spot - the edge of the battery door and where the chainstay bumps out.

I think there are pictures on one of the threads here with spacing from another user - like aluminati builds or gravel bikes. search felt breed. Was super helpful to me.

Iā€™ll have to poke around a little more and see if it can find any more info. Glad to know it works though, Thanks!

Power2max just emailed me that they are about 6 weeks out from having power spiders that will work with GRX 2x chainrings. I like the idea of the SRM pedals, but saving a few hundred dollars and being able to use road or MTB pedals with power on the same gravel bike seems ideal.

Wonder if theyā€™ll work in 1x config, thatā€™d be cool.

Just careful of the Q factor with mixing and matching groups

Yes, GRX is 2.5mm wider per side (5mm total), so a road arm in place of the GRX will likely be closer to the stays and no longer ā€œcenteredā€, unless you shim the pedal out on that left side.

Looks like the dual-sided factory install for GRX is now available from 4iiii for $649 CAD. 4iiii Shop - Canada: Dual-Side PRECISION PRO Powermeter - Factory Install - Shimano - GRX FC-RX810.

Iā€™m currently running the Rotor 2inpower DM powermeter on my gravel bike with the 46/30 chainring and an 11-36 cassette with SRAM eTap HRD. Gearing has been pretty good except for a few bikepacking trips, and have been looking at moving to GRX on my next bike, but the whole powermeter issue has been a big question. This thread has been really helpful! Thanks.

Is the wider Q factor in the spindle or the crank arms? Like if I have Ultegra cranks on now, will I need a new BB or spacers?

Itā€™s wider in the arms, not the spindle. No spindle or BB spacer needed.

dual sided or just one?

Just the non-drive side Stages PM. At the time I got it, Stages was only doing the GRX as a factory install and didnā€™t offer a dual sided option.

Granted, Iā€™ve use my Gen 1 Stages PM on an FSA crank thatā€™s left-only on my road bike since 2014 and been completely satisfied - thereā€™s no way Iā€™d spend the extra money for dual-sided on my gravel bike

Agreed, the only time dual sided is useful is during single leg pedaling drills.

How did you set this up? Iā€™d like to go 50/34 and either an 11-36 or 11-40 because I have a dual sided PM R8000 crankset and I donā€™t really want to move to GRX to get lower gearing ā€¦ and a power meter problem to deal with.
