Heart Rate Variability App, Accuracy and Integration w/TR

The topic of HRV floats in and out of the forums and podcasts.
I can’t find, as hard and deep as I try to delve, anything definitive about a stand out HRV app or if the information will integrate with our training on TR.
I use an app called Elite HRV, but I’m not convinced it’s accurate. I’ve had numerous times where I’m recovering from big race or training efforts, definitely in the hurt box, to have it tell me I’m perfectly recovered and fresh. I’m to the point of distrust that I’m going to take my reading and put in metrics that are not accurate to see if the app is just ‘phoning it in’. I’m only using a HR strap(usually a Garmin one, but currently have a Magene)
What systems are people using?
Also, is there a push to utilise the information with our TR training system, or is it too vague at this point in time?

I would like to think that it could factor into RL/GL as having an out of whack HRV can indicate a degree of fatigue impacting training readiness. Are there even enough TR users tracking it via whoop or garmin devices to make it an actionable data point?

A lot of us have found that HRV just isn’t a very good indicator. Some days mine is high and I’m exhausted. Other days it’s low and I set records. I do find it’s a good lagging indicator though. When I get sick, I can usually see disruptions in HRV and RHR, but it’s never enough that I see it happening BEFORE I get sick.

Also, a lot of people misunderstand HRV and end up doing things like wondering questions like why their HRV isn’t as high as their friends is, etc.

To answer your question, TR does not currently integrate HRV.

My experience as well using a Garmin Felix 7x.
I will say the training readiness with garmin has been better to watch as a guide lately. It uses sleep history, hrv, “stress”, recovery time and training load. I do have days with low readiness but that’s usually a scheduled endurance or recovery day.
When I first purchased my watch I didn’t pay attention to the training readiness but lately seems to help guide what I should do. It’s not perfect and people can do what they want but if I have a red day with TR and garmin is telling me I need a day off, I should probably take the day off.
