Helmet & External occipital protuberance

I was wondering if anyone has encountered this issue and had a fix. I seem to have a fairly prominent External occipital protuberance on the back of my skull which means the fastening part of my new specialized s works prevail helmet rests on causing a bit of pain. I cannot seem to position the adjuster anywhere that does not either sit on it of just below.

Can padding be added or other ideas?

Try different helmets

I had the Prevail 2, which sat much differently than the Prevail 3. I almost returned the 3, but I was able to make it work in the end.

In that process I probably tried on 40 different helmets. Your best bet is probably to go to the biggest bike store you can and try helmets on until you find one that fits your particular head.

Or go custom with a KAV

I have the Prevail 2 and it seems made for this. There is a big space there that fits me well.

I have the similar issue and found that for whatever reason, Specialized helmets just don’t work for me. The only solution was to find other helmets that fit differently. Both Giro and Poc don’t bother it.

Damn could be an expensive mistake

I know! I even bought the newest generation of both the Prevail and Evade hoping that the issue would change with the new model and nope. Had to sell them. For me, it only begins to hurt after an hour or two. I can’t tell just by trying on. It sucks.

Yup exactly the same here. Feels fine in the shop not after two hours!

Yeah! Just try different helmets on

I had good luck with Giro as well @KonaSS !

Try Kask. I have the same issue as you, and the retention system on Kask helmets is the only one that goes low enough to sit below that part of my skull.
