I’m doing a TR plan and have TR linked to Strava such that my outdoor rides (not workouts) upload to TR and show up on my calendar. Do I need to be doing something with Solo Rides before or after a ride when I do this? If I specify I’m doing a Solo Ride, does that become a dupe of the uploaded ride?
You can if its a planned ride schedule a solo ride on your calendar and I think Plan Builder tales account of them. But if its adhoc RLGL will retrospectively analyse them and adapt your plan if you need a rest. Some folk try matching them to a workout but I think Id advise against that , it risks burnout, and just rely on RLGL to manage thing for you; in which case you wont have to do a thing
As @HLaB said, you won’t have to do anything special. Once you complete and upload your ride, it will get associated with your Solo Ride – so no dupes!
Thanks for the info and suggestions, but I’m still uncertain what’s best to do in my situation. I’m on week 8 of a 4 day a week plan that has all workouts indoors. The opportunity arises so I do an outdoor ride which will, via Strava, get uploaded to TR and appear on my calendar. What should I do:
- Prior to the ride add a Solo Ride to the calendar with the estimated duration and intensity.
- After the ride, add a Solo Ride to the calendar with the actual duration and intensity.
- Do not add a Solo Ride before or after the outdoor ride.
- Do something else, and if so, what?
If 2 is OK, and I already have outdoor rides that appear in my calendar, should I go back and add appropriate Solo Rides to the calendar?
Based on what I’ve read so far (in my very short time using TR), I would think that you could do any of your first 3 options (translating option 3 as ‘do nothing’). My understanding is that the adaptive training will adjust your schedule going forward to take your outdoor ride into account. So, if it was me, if I knew in advance thst I was going to ride outside, and an approximate duration, I’d probably add it to my calendar (or change an indoor ride to an outdoor ride). And if it was a spur of the moment decision, I’d probably do nothing (beyond upload the ride to TR) and let the adaptive plan figure it out and recommend adaptations, if any are needed.
I’m interested to hear what more seasoned TR users have to say, though, as I’m still trying to figure it all out.
I think I’m wondering the same thing… like why doesn’t it just tick off what is planned in the calendar? Rather than just add another file as per the images above…
I’m not sure it really matters but just looks a bit messy… Or does having that left as not completed an issue?
If you click on your Afternoon Ride, does it give you the option to ‘associate ride’? Then select the Solo ride to associate, and I think your issue is resolved… doing this from memory, so I might be wrong!
Will check… I’m also doing everything on mobile so maybe on desktop is different
You legend that’s exactly what was needed… and works on mobile app too perfectly
