I’m curious about the TR forums users bike numbers. Do you use all your bikes?
I’m downsizing. Currently have 3 bikes. 1 road. 1 gravel. 1 mountain. I’m trying to sell my road bike and plan on just using gravel for road and gravel. Mountain I rarely use but not worth selling as I’d be lucky to get $150 so will just keep it.
I’ve recently sold a TT bike and old gravel bike. I like my road bike but never ride it. It’s sort of nice having one primary bike. Also frees up garage space
1 cargo bike for school run and shopping, use a few times per week
1 brompton (from ebay) occasionally used when i commute by train
1 single speed used for commuting to work
1 standard road bike, mainly turbo and winter bike. backup commuter
1 race bike
1 gravel bike (new, from ebay).
I use them all enough to justify keeping them, but wouldn’t buy them all if i was starting from scratch now.
Once I purchased a gravel bike about 4 years ago I quickly started riding that 95% of the time. Even on road since I’m not a road racer it’s great for me. And more comfortable
Do we have to count bikes we’ve loaned out to family & friends? (that may or may not have been loaned out to make room in the storage space for another bike or 2 )
Also, are we required to count bikes that have been disassembled enough to put on the trainer? Asking for friend.
I have a road bike and CX/gravel bike that I use often. I have a MTB that I haven’t ridden in quite some time. And then I have a gravel bike I leave at my wife’s place for when I visit (we live in different states right now due to our jobs). So I’d say I have 4 total, and 3 I use pretty frequently. Honestly, I’ll probably sell the MTB. I just never got into it.
In the olden days my CC company owned most of my bikes. As I’ve wised up and gotten better jobs over the years, I own all my bikes and am done with flipping them like I used to every season. Bikes are great now and the advances that happen are so minute than keeping bikes for more than a few years makes sense. I have a hardtail that I lend out to friends and family and a road bike that almost never gets ridden but neither of which are worth selling. My two F/S MTB get the most love as I’m allegeric to cars now it seems…
I own 7, regularly use 1 lol. I haven’t been MTB lately, but if I was then it would be 2.
Just riding road bike as of late.
I own:
2 road bike (a nice I ride and a not nice one that was my first ever bike)
1 CX bike that I’ll use sept-dec
1 MTB
1 TRI bike that I never use
1 tandem that hasn’t been used in 3 years
1 road bike for my wife that also is never used for same reason as tandem (she doesn’t ride lol)
I’d gladly sell my old road bike and the TRI bike. I’d be tempted to sell my nice road bike and buy a nice CX bike so I have two for racing and would just ride it on the road. All good thoughts, but I haven’t taken any actions in years
