I can’t for the life of me seem to get rid of my right knee pain…
Some back story. I was born with flat feet, and later as a teen had both of my hips operated on as a result of slipped capital femoral epiphysis. I was a fat kid with bad alignment, and my parents did nothing to correct it or even acknowledge it. As I approached adulthood I recognized the poor health decisions and circumstances and took control of my health. Through diet and cycling, my weight has been well under control for nearly 20 years. That all being said, I still have flat feet and bad hips… and now, what seems like a bad knee.
When I train more aggressively, my right knee, on the outside, gets super tender. I have tried adjusting my cleat position, seat position, etc. and for the life of me, I can’t seem to get rid of it completely. It doesn’t stop me from training, but I fear that one day it may. I am 36 y/o, 5’8", 155 lbs, and hope to be able to forever.
I really don’t know where to begin to get this addressed? Would you recommend seeing a sports pt, getting my bike professionally fitted, getting a dual-sided power meter to see the imbalance, going a bit lighter on my training, sucking it up and pushing through the pain, or something else entirely?
Does anyone else deal with this? How did you get it addressed? Tia!
