Interestingly enough, I saw this came out yesterday.
My experience? I have found that 30mg of full spectrum (legal in all 50 states) CBD oil 2x a day kills the same type of pain you talk about in my big toe joint.

I had arthritis in both hands between middle and ring finger. My best friend from high school gave me a sample bottle of CBD and that’s where it all started lol. 8 months later not only is my hands pain free but I’m less tense and relaxed during my daily routine not to mention I sleep sound each night. How could I stop taking this right?! Now I’m a CBD oil junkie lol. People don’t realize what this really is. CBD and THC don’t have the same psychoactive effects. In fact, CBD is a nonpsychoactive compound. That means it doesn’t produce the “high” associated with THC. Something else I would say is if your gonna use or try CBD oil you need to look at the ingredients. It should only have two-Hemp oil and Hemp extract, that’s it! if you see more your holding garbage. I’ve done my research so if you want some direction let me know. This is off topic but I always throw me and my son’s youtube channel out there if you want to see some father son vlogging. Topical voltaren does carry similar risks, but topical absorption is orders of magnitude less than taking oral nsaids. You only absorb around 6-7% of the actual topical dose. Not saying it’s risk free, but a safer alternative.
Cardiac risks are similar across all oral nsaids. Meloxicam MAY be a bit easier on your stomach (different COX pathway)
Studies in dogs have shown some improvement with the use of collagen. No organ damage was noted in this study. I do not know of any studies in humans. Maybe an internet search will bring up some more info.
Also Hammer Nutrition and other companies market supplements for tissue repairs. They seem to have a lot of the natural anti inflammatory ingredients. Not known if the amount they have in them high enough to help.
I have developed arthritis in my left shoulder. Did a MRI to make sure it wasn’t a torn rotator cuff from previous bike accidents which over time have resulted in two collar bone breaks and multiple rides. Came back as arthritis.
Things that have helped.
I don’t think anything will cure this, just have to find ways to make it manageable. I have lost a lot of strength and regular pushups are next to impossible with the ache. But I am doing some kettlebell work. I need to keep fighting back or the health will deteriorate further.
I’m age 63 and too young to get old. I see some folks that look like they are ready for a nursing home in their early 70’s and others that get tough and carry on with life. I am a firm believer that using the bike over the years and voluntarily suffering (thanks TR for the workouts) toughens you up for the real test in life.
