Improving fitness

Hello,
We all know dedication and consitancy are the keys,

With an FTP of 300w at 68kg and 77VO2Max,

What results can i aspect in 5 years of hard training?

It depends.

But really not easy to say, you could be at your training/time/physical peak or you could have another 100+ watts in the bag.

What do you want to achieve?

Any races / types of races that you do? Other events?

What were your numbers, say, a year ago and what training have you done in the last 12 months? How old are you?

Nobody knows until they do the work.

If that v02max is a lab verified number (ie - not garmin, etc.), then that puts you into pretty rare air. But elite v02max doesn’t always translate to watts.

Just too many factors to even guess, but a big driver would be what you’ve done to get to your current FTP. If that FTP is untrained off the couch (I’m guessing not), you likely have some serious upside. If you have a decent history of aerobic endurance training, then you might still have a lot of upside, but you have likely grabbed a lot of the β€œlow hanging fruit” already and gains will be tougher/slower.

Genetics plays a huge role, so if your parents are elite endurance athletes then you can probably read something into that (but no guarantees). Some people are fast adapters, but don’t have that high of a ceiling. Others adapt slowly and might get passed by the fast adapters when they are young, but they can have much higher ceilings. You see this all the time in the world tour where young phenoms don’t pan out while the guys who struggled to get on a team when they were 20 turn into solid WT riders in their mid 20’s. I like to believe that’s not a result of PED’s these days, but who knows. Either way, there is physiology in play there as well.

This is a question that you would ask your professional coach after the evaluation.

On one hand, enjoyment, increased fitness, learning new things and a collection of new experiences.

On the other hand disappointment, disillusionment, injury and probably a different hobby.

You obviously are very keen right now, but that won’t take you far. I like your long term approach  And if you plan that out reasonably and your lifestyle affords it, you could go much further than you imagine right now :medal_sports::trophy:
