I joined TR on Jan. 1st as a 2.5 year recreational cyclist. Playing college sports, I have general fitness and strength that I have maintained after graduation. A few days before my FTP ramp test on TR, I did a Zwift ride with 195W power for 1 hour at a 143 average HR. I took the TR ramp test and was given a 202W FTP.
I’m not saying that it should be a 275 FTP, but I think something is missing. My fear moving forward is that workouts will be easier than intended.
I’m sure I am 1 of 500 people who have posted a thread like this so please be patience with me!
Have you tried any workouts? My guess you are worrying about nothing. Besides the system will soon adapt, progress you through higher PL’s quickly, and you can run AI FTP D and it’ll detect if you need to up it. IIRC the threshold is 10 indoor work outs.
First “workout” after my FTP test was a recovery ride, as I carried in a group ride, and handful of Zwift training, running and weight training. It’s showing my next ride shouldn’t be until Tuesday with my current TSS.
My thought is exactly that. Let it run its course, complete 10 workouts and see where i come out.
FWIW… I’ll bet your actual TR FTP is around 220w or 225w right now. meaning…FTP that would be adequate for TR workouts. excellent starting point (impressive actually) if you are new to structured training.
don’t want to get into a discussion about ACTUAL FTP, and FTP for TR workouts…that’s another can of worms, and a dead horse that’s been beaten to death.
can we change the thread title, the term used to describe feeling cheated here is actually quite a ethnic slur term derived from the colloquial name for the Romani people
