Hi,
I have been combining Road Racing and Half Ironman distance racing for the last 4 years. This year I was due to focus on cycling for three stage races in February and March and then transition back triathlon training and was due to do my first full Ironman for 7 years in September and then the 70.3 World Champs in November (which I qualified for last year).
With the current Coronavirus situation all my cycling races have been postponed until hopefully September onwards. I am still keen to do a full ironman this year and fit in some road races but wondering the best way to train for these?
Is anyone else firmly sat in the triathlete and cyclist camp? Keen to hear your advice!
Thanks,
Ben
I take it from the lack or responses no one has any advice?!?!
I can’t find anything online either - maybe I’ll try reaching out toe Cameron Wurf.
Hey, I’m just trying to feel my way in to the cyclist and triathlete camp. Was supposed to be doing my first half this season but doesn’t look like it’s going to happen as I’m not available for the revised Oct date.
FWIW I’ve decided to just focus on my cycling (running through TBHV1 atm and I’ll pick up the other disciplines when we’re back on sounder footing.
Hey @bfarnsworth,
Thanks for this thread, I’m definitely in that camp as well.
I had to cancel all of my events unfortunately as either they are not happening or the ones that happened were oversubscribed.
What I wanted to ask though is your approach to combining cycling racing and long-distance triathlon. I’m mainly a cyclist now (although I started as a long-distance adventure triathlon a long time ago) and this year I was planning and training to mix one-day cycling races in Europe (Liege, Strade, Dolomites) with mid and full Ironman from Jul-August onwards.
Could you please share how you approach the training?
Thanks!
T.
