Is my New bike too big size?

This is my new bike and the saddle is almost same height as the handle bar. I other road bikes having saddle higher but I can’t… I am 5’4 on good day but short legs. Is my bike too big??? It’s 51cm…:sob:

Question to ask yourself. Is my bike comfortable?

Do you slam the berries into the top tube when you stand with your feet on the floor? If not, it’s looking good…

By conventional standards, probably.

That said, people with short legs and long torsos often have to resort to unconventional setups to get a good fit.

Looking at the bike itself, it is difficult to fully evaluate. We need to see you on the bike to provide better feedback.

From a conventional point of view, it’s probably on the large side. The seat is also slammed forward. Why? To get your hands closer to the bars?

Can you even get a smaller size? You are in a tough spot size wise.

Maybe you should look at Liv bikes next time. They are Giants but as they are marketed to women, they have sizes for 5 footers.

Can’t be sure, as all road bikes sized below a size 56 look wrong to me anyway - almost always a 0cm saddle to bar drop.

Ultimately just the limitations of using the same size wheels as people who are 200cm+ tall.

In your case the Defy or the TCR might’ve been a better bet for more exposed seatpost (for comfort), lower standover height etc. Defy also has shorter reach.

The main difference is crank length (shorter = higher saddle & better for short legs) & handlebar width (narrower = shorter reach). Male and female anatomy isn’t that different, most women ride men’s bikes anyway.

I’d suggest you look into shorter cranks and narrower bars no matter what you do with this bike.

I’m 5’8” and ride a 51’s and 52’s.

It appears you are making the bike work, I wouldn’t stress it.

Thats not how you size bikes

Nice 3T Strada, I have the previous-gen Strada and love it.

How did you select the size? Have you test ridden the bike? Did you get a bike fit? Can you return it? Did you buy it online without trying out different sizes?

Limb length and the like will alter your sizing. E. g. I always have to size up as I have long limbs compared to my torso.

I know. Sarcasm? But if you can’t stand up with a bike, that spells injury, and not just those neither regions. :flushed:

There are ways that a rider can dial in a frame that is too large, or too small, but those methods aren’t magic, and if it is really to large or to small, there may be nothing to do but look into swapping for a smaller/larger frame, or buying a new bike.

Sad story: Working a bike shop in a college town. I freakishly tall young girl comes in looking for a bike. I go through the usual questions, and we decide on a model, and she tries a couple sizes, and she is ecstatic, LOVES the bike, but has to get her father to approve. She comes back with his credit card and out goes the bike. Next day, a furious man in a three piece comes in dragging the girl and the bike. She’s been crying and looks like hell. I start talking to them and the man yells he wants to talk to the owner. (Oh great) After listening to the yelling shouting crying sobbing, they leave sans bike. The issue was the man wanted a ‘girls bike’, and the girl didn’t. A typical ‘girls bike’ was nowhere near able to fit her 6 foot PLUS height. So he had to order a really long stem, seat post and the bike looked like something out of Barnum and Baily. I felt so sorry for her… I was sorry the manager gave in to such a blowhard. He lost most respect from everyone employee that day. :person_shrugging: :man_facepalming:

Nice bike, if its comfortable don’t worry.

A bit related I was sitting in a bike shop once and the manager came up and started measuring my bike and concluded it was too big for me but I had done nearly 30,000 miles on it in comfort. It got me a bit paranoid as I was training for the Mallorca 312 so I started googling. By the most aggressive sporting fit it was indeed 0.5cm too big for me, but by the French Comfort fit it was actually 2cm to small and it was spot on by other fit methods. I went on to do the 312 and done over 40,000miles on the bike before I retired it.
