Is there a way to use TrainerRoad for MTB training plans without a power meter on Garmin Edge?

I’ve researched this and could see a couple of people saying that you can definitely use the RPE based workouts on TrainerRoads if you don’t have a power meter installed on your bike (or a smart trainer at home). I do all of my rides outdoors and use a Garmin Edge 530, with a HR chest band, cadence meter and speed meter. I’ve built myself a training plan on the TrainerRoad app, synced it with my Garmin Connect account but all I’m seeing on my Garmin Edge device are power-based workouts, and not HR Zone based workouts like I’d like.

I’m not interested in buying a smart trainer to do indoor bike rides, and don’t have the money right now to invest 400$ plus on a second hand power meter (already checked my local FB marketplace - that’s what it costs nowadays where I live).

Is there a way to export TrainerRoad workouts to my Garmin Edge so it uses my HR+cadance+speed meters instead of a power meter with watt readings? Appreciate the help here ya’ll!

Welcome to the TR community!

Unfortunately, TR workouts cannot be exported as HR-based workouts.

You can use RPE, though, as you already mentioned. You can also edit the screen on your Garmin so that HR/cadence/speed is displayed if you want to see that data.
