Just changed my "A" race to 2021, some interesting results

My original “A” race was slated for August 2020, but given I’m not expecting to race this year, I changed my A race to same date 2021 and got some interesting results with Plan Builder. I’m just about to start my build phase after repeating SSBMV1 + SSBMV2 + GBMV once over, so I thought I’d make the change after this build phase and what Plan Builder spit out was interesting given my A event wasn’t until next year (rolling road race).

After current build phase:
SSBMV1
SSBMV2
GBMV
RRRMV Specialty

SSBMV1
GBMV
SSBMV2
GBMV
SSBMV2
RRRMV Specialty

Interesting that it jumps between SSB1 and SSB2, then goes directly from SSB2 straight to Specialty, and at one point go from SSB1 straight into GB. Would the lack of vo2 work and TSS jump in SSB1 into GB be too much? I always thought the ideal plan would be to go SSB2->GB->RRR. Just thought it makes for interesting conversation.

VO2max is use it or lose it. No need to tune up if it’s going to go away.

I think what’s going on with this setup is since it’s longer than the traditional 28 week plan the extra time is filled with base as you can do base forever without overloading your body. The trade off is you’d plateau and other energy systems wouldn’t be keeping up with your base. By doing it this way and slotting in a base phase in between builds it allows you to work on base, then bump your ceiling with build, then back to base at a higher ftp, then rinse and repeat.

the first vo2 max workouts in base2 and build are right around the same time, so you’ll be fine. Or not, vo2 max never is fine

So plan builder gave you pretty much exactly what I decided to do this year given the global situation. I had a hunch I was on the money
