Keegan purges his Strava

it’s probably stupid and probably looking too much into it.

I found it odd that Keegan purged pretty much all his Strava rides considering he has said multiple times that all of his rides were public. The only things that are currently there are White Rim FKT and the most recent spirit tour.

Anyone know what’s up?

i do

Well, his coach just made an appearance on Ben Delaney’s YT channel this week. Perhaps Keegan thought he was giving too much away? (Ben referenced looking at Keegan’s training data on Strava.)

That would be my theory.

Yeah, i saw that. I thought it was good.

Potentially just hid all activities from everyone. I find it odd considering how vocal he has been about ensuring it’s there.

IIRC, when you make them private they still contribute to your overall stats. But he has only 16 all-time activities (6 YTD). They’re gone for good. Bummer.

Not anymore, I believe that changed back a few years ago with the changes to Fly-By, etc. Now, when you mass change activities to private they don’t count for your yearly or all-time totals under My Stats for followers and the general public.

If you mass change back to activities shown to Everyone, they add back in.

Yeah, that was a good interview. Finally got the story about how he ended up going to road World’s.

It’s his info, and if he purged all that, he probably had a good reason, even if it hurts Joe Public’s feelings.

Who cares!

I’m curious. Is it possible to download someones public strava data and then put it into WKO, intervals.icu, or whatever?

I know you can do it ride by ride but could it be automated? Easily? I guess with some programming, anything could be scripted.

My feelings are hurt. lol I just enjoyed following all of his big rides. There are still other pros who have their Strava rides public

Probably has a stalker or something.

The interview hinted at him taking a run at worlds (gonna assume gravel worlds). Seeing how his performance last season had him right in the mix, he’s now a bigger name than he’s ever been. Probably a wise idea not to give much away to your competitors when you’re going for a rainbow jersey.

The timing probably is simply because his base is wrapping up. I think their spirit of gravel week is the kickoff to the new season and build.

Keegans said before on the TR podcast he doesn’t care if people try to copy what he does…he was like “ha…good luck keeping up with the volume/intensity, it’ll probably just break you” or something to that effect.

Interesting.

I never really dive into Keegan’s data, but was always impressed with his openness. I very much like following the local pro’s, especially when they ride KOM segments that I’ve ridden (up or down).

Did Sofia go back to being private (I know they have different coaches)?

Could removing the data be due to his coach telling Ben what his w/kg is? I don’t think his competitors or even amateurs like us would be surprised he’s over 6 w/kg and can hold a huge percentage of that for 8+ hours

Which was probably fine at the time….but at some point, you competition does close in on you. He isn’t that much of a unicorn that only he can sustain his workload. And if he is setting his sights higher, then keeping stuff private makes sense.

I don’t follow any pro’s but the change is interesting at the very least. I wonder if @Jonathan can get an answer if/when he’s on the podcast again?

He’s no longer sharing power data for most of his rides either. He does show it on one he did with Quinn Simmons recently where he held 313 watts for 3.5 hours!

If he can great, if not, oh well.

I don’t think so.

He’s been pretty open on AACC about his w/kg. In addition to this, Post-leadville, there were podcasts covering his power data normalizing for w/kg and altitude. IMO, the competition knows what he’s capable of.

Blockquote I’m curious. Is it possible to download someones public strava data and then put it into WKO, intervals.icu, or whatever?

yes, would be easy to automate. My opinion, this is a very good hypothesis.
