Lionel Sanders takes Lemmon KOM from Phil Gaimon

Pretty speechless about this one. Especially considering Sanders is a MUCH bigger dude. Super impressive… I wonder if Sanders will start getting approached about joining the pro peloton…

And by 2+ min…that’s seriously impressive.

No…he would be, at best, a mid-level domestique in the peloton. At best. But his personality would screw him, regardless of talent. he simply won’t listen to others re: training, nutrition or any other subject.

And he’s got power but zero skills. Him in the peloton would be a disaster.

I was still blown away by his heart rate. Average 133bpm, Max 143bpm. That’s just unreal.

`That is what I noticed too. But I don’t follow him. He might be the ultra low HR guy.

@Power13 True. 5.3 W/kg at just below threshold isn’t better than pro climbers. Still better than me!

Not necessarily true. He has a coach and seems to be all in on listening. Doesn’t mean he would do anything in the WT but would be fun to watch him try.

Have you watched him for the past several years? Yes, he has a coach now, but he’s constantly been out-thinking himself and refusing coaching until his recent disappointing Kona performance. He’s wired to be in control of his own training and an alpha.

DING DING DING!!!

And even when he has sought assistance in the past, he can’t turn over control for too long and reverts back to his usual behavior.

I’m not a fan of either Phil or Lionel but honestly leaning more towards Lionel and glad he took the KOM. In general though not a fan of the KOMs anymore w.r.t. Strava as its posed dangerous/inconsiderate folks on the road just for name/place sake. just my two cents…

He is, crazy low. I saw him do some VO2 stuff and was in the upper 140s or very low 150s or something like that. Wildly low HR.

I think he’s related to Lionel Richie and/or Colonel Sanders.

Edit to add: There’s a restaurant that serves fried chicken called The Commodore:

Coincidence? I think not. Illuminati confirmed.

That’s about the right mix of mellow and crazy :stuck_out_tongue:

Just watched the vid, did he say it’s not the official lemmon kom and Phil has the ‘real’ one?

Insane power numbers.

I know the guy in #4 position.

LS has the real one, according to Strava:

Weird, watched it again he says it’s not the official one. Really doesn’t matter does it :joy:
