So I did the noosa triathlon today and I am one to try and avoid taking a track pump with me due to the bulky nature of the thing to carry.
There was a guy in transition with an mini electric pump and I was like that is a winner. Have been seeing adds etc on Facebook for them of late and now I am curious and keen to buy one. Maybe one that can easily be carried in the pocket to inflate tubes on the go.
Can anyone share their experiences, brands to buy or avoid please?
I have the full size Fumpa. It works great, but it is VERY loud. As loud as a blender full of ice. It also gets very hot. I’ve never tried the smaller ones though, and this one is way too big and heavy for a jersey/on bike storage. I carry a CO2 inflator instead. I use it occasionally, but not often due to the noise level.
I use my cycplus with TPU tubes with no problems. It comes with an extension hose in the box.
The drawback of these pumps is that the more portable they are, the less charge they hold. If you’re using it instead of a track pump then you need to be mindful to leave enough charge to inflate a couple of types out on the road.
I bought it from an ad on the Syd & Macky YouTube channel. this is the first time I’ve bought something via an ad on youtube. It’s brillaint. I don’t need to take a track pump with me anymore when I travel. I’ll be using it for Ironman as well.
Yup…that is why I am gonna pull the trigger on one. Just need to decide which one. Was between a Fumpa and a Cycplus, but I’ll take a look at the one you just posted as well.
I have been hovering over this one. Thinking of one I could carry in my jersey pocket with a pressure guage. This one seems well built. I would buy the Fumpa mini but I am not sure it has a pressure guage.
It’s the AS2 Pro. I’ve only used it to top up a couple of tubeless punctures in the wild, but tested it on a series of TPU tubes at home with no worries.
I have to say that being able to just set the pressure and let it do it’s thing is way better than I thought it would be. It just takes away one of the little stresses of a puncture knowing you’re at a good pressure.
I have the Cycplus for rides. Small enough to fit easily in the back pocket. I don’t care if it only gets 2-3 uses from a charge, it’s a replacement for CO2 which is one time use so it’s already winning. For home I bought a random e-pump from AliExpress. It was like $30. Pumps up to 100psi, has a digital gauge, just set the target and pump away. I get maybe 10 uses per charge. I like it.
Edit: Cyclami not Cycplus. Likely the exact pump with different labels.
. Inflates to 100 psi. I feel I need to charge it fairly often to ensure it hasn’t lost charge in periods when not being used. This may just be paranoia as prospect of flat tyre and flat battery is worrying!
