with the last release, it seems the TrainNow feature has lost the button to reload the suggested workouts. Going by the change notes of the app, it should still be there.
Is this a regression or an intentional change?
I’m running version 2024.50.2.92486 on Android, but the same is also true for the WebUI
We’re making some significant under the hood improvements to TrainNow and to facilitate these updates, we’ve removed the shuffle button for the time being.
If you need the shuffle functionality, you could simply refresh your browser when viewing TrainNow on the web as a workaround for now.
Thanks for confirming the change to be intentional.
Regarding the work-around of reloading the webUI, there’s unfortunately one small drawback with it:
Upon reload, the UI always reverts back to a duration of 60min. It seems impossible to select a different duration and reload for alternatives.
While this all makes sense, I have a general distaste when I lose a function without a proper replacement or other adjustment that addresses the basic need.
We have no idea what it hiding under the hood, but we sure note the removal of a tool that I and many others rely on. As it stands now, I will likely ignore TN and just use manual search filters in Workouts. At least until whatever is brewing for TN and such is set to do something in place of the refresh.
I chatted with customer support today about this before checking this forum. I don’t think this removal makes any sense — not only does hitting refresh not save the duration as someone else here mentioned, but the vast majority of recommended workouts now appear to be “breakthrough” level, something that very rarely appeared for me before.
I don’t understand how “under the hood improvments” would be facilitated by removing that reload control.
I’ve seen similar behavior in the iOS app before the latest missing reload button issue. It seems like it doesn’t refresh the yellow/red light state until you navigate to the calendar, and then return to the TrainNow screen.
That said, TrainNow still doesn’t always seem to be giving sane recommendations right now. EDIT: e.g. it lost my yellow light on a couple refreshes, and is now showing a Breakthrough Vo2max 5.2 as an option. (My vo2max level is currently 1.0.)
I came here to post the same thing, so just going to echo what others above had said:
The reload button is missing from the Android app, Windows app, and web interface
The Android app refuses to give me “alternate workouts”, instead just offering me a “rest day”
Reloading the webpage resets to 60 minutes even if another duration was selected.
Because of all this I spent way too much time choosing a 45 minute workout yesterday when I was already short on time. Not happy about that.
Generally speaking, features should NOT be removed unless a equivalent or better replacement is available. Please, TR, DO NOT become the next Sonos.
Also, the big red “This topic has been solved” box that I see beside this text box right now is pretty frustrating. No, it hasn’t been “solved” – a temporary workaround because of a feature regression is not a solution. This shouldn’t be marked as solved until the replacement has been rolled out.
I only resolved the topic as the originally described behavior turned out to be intentional and not a bug - independent of how bad this may actually be from a user perspective.
If others share the sentiment of wanting to see this topic as unresolved, I will try to remove the check again (never tried before, no idea if I actually can)
I’m not sure but I’m hoping that the reason for this might be that under the hood all your rides (outside / non workout/ whatever) are taken into account (as mentioned before in the forum and maybe on the podcast) and from these you have some higher internal progression level (WLv2) that is now finally taken into account for working planning before hopefully making the whole WLv2 thing public.
I had that thought also, but at least for my recent workout history and circumstances (2 weeks of being sick followed by ~4 weeks of exclusive TR-indoor workouts) this seems unlikely.
