My Trainer Road Progress compared to Zwift

I would love to say thanks to the TrainerRoad team!

I broke my hip in a mountain bike wreck in May and my son was born in September. I thought my biking/fitness was toast. I decided to sign up for TrainerRoad and try out a low-volume plan with some scheduled dates for Fondos I’m doing this year. I will say for doing half the volume I’m currently off 10-15 watts off my all-time FTP and that’s just simply amazing given my time commitment to my family. I am riding 3 days a week, 2 1 hour sessions, and a 1.5-hour session on the weekend with an occasional outdoor ride when my life/wife lets me haha.

What works about TR plans is that you can move your days around and set time aside throughout the week. Redlight Greenlight feature is amazing so far for helping me realize when I need to rest especially because I am getting way less sleep with a newborn.

I cant wait to see where TR takes me and how I perform in my upcoming Fondo events with half the training volume.

Now talking about Zwift I think the FTP booster training plan is great for quick gains and getting back up to speed but overall long term progress the plans are no where near as good as what TR can offer. Onlything I miss about zwift is the racing because it really helped me up my anerobic/high end zones.

Hey @Ghost_Dance,

This is awesome!!

We’re so glad that you’re enjoying things with TR.

This is another great example of how our plans can work for so many different types of people. There are ways to incorporate races into your training plan. I can help with that if you’d like – just let me know!

Thanks so much for the kind words and stay in touch along the rest of your journey!

Congratulations on your new baby boy too! :tada:
