New Specialized Tubeless Road Tire finally released

After months of teasing, the new S-Works road tires have finally hit the market and are available with immediate effect.
The 3 available models are:

  • Specialized S-Works Turbo RapidAir 2BR
  • Specialized S-Works Turbo 2BR
  • Specialized S-Works Turbo (clincher)

I have used up my BRR request for the months, so please get it in there!

Bought a 26 and a 30 of the 2BR.

Unfortunately last night I used my BRR request on the 28c Vittoria Corsa N.EXT.

Which is basically sure to be in next months test already. But I had used mine on a tire that was on the board already :sleepy:

July was the original release target according to the Roval engineer I met on a ride in April.

Unfortunately these should up a day late:

and yesterday I had to put on my last set of the previous generation S-Works Turbo RapidAir on my Rapide CLX2 wheels.

Had to use those tires anyways, testing of the new 2BR will have to wait.

Yikes those are some knobby treads just off center. Do they look that knobby in person?

I just mounted the previous generation S-Works Turbo RapidAir on my bike. About 10 miles on those tires. Comparing to the new in box 2BR:

Looks the same to my eyes.

Phew! Thanks for posting. Great tires

Anyone in the UK managed to track down any of the revamped tyres in stock?

I’m after the S-Works Turbo (clinchers) in 26mm. Everywhere still seems to be selling off older stock (and only have the 24mm available).

EDIT: If anyone knows where to find some 26mm of the ‘old’ stock I’m all ears too

I’m pretty sure you can order direct from the Specialized website if you can’t find them in stores.

Brilliant thanks! :+1:t3:

I must of checked the Specialized website so many times and could only find the ‘old’ stock. Will try and get some ordered

I only know this because I’ve had the tab open ready to press order… Come back here with some feedback when you’ve ridden them!

Will do! The pair arrived this morning. I actually managed to find them in stock elsewhere once I started searching for ‘S-Works Turbo T2/T5:roll_eyes:

Any chance you can get a micrometer on the tire to measure the actual width? I’m curious if they’re going to take vittoria’s approach and do a true tire width (within reason because rim shape affects things).

I don’t have one unfortunately but I will see what I can do. If I drop into a bike shop on my weekend ride for a coffee I will see if they have one :+1:t3:

Regarding width, this is posted on the box pic that is up above:

That’s about what I’m seeing with the previous generation S-Works Turbo RapidAir 700x30 - newly installed it was 30mm on a 622x21 rim that measures 21 internal width. I’m sure it will expand a little, like all tires.

BRR has released its tire testing for the new RapidAir, and it is very in line with my experience so far:
Doesn’t roll as fast as GP5000 S TR, but more grippy in the wet.
It not really a step up from the older gen, but the good puncture protection and and grip make it good choice for a bad weather and general road tire, but not for the spear head of racing;
