Just noticed these under the “Career” section:

28% percentile! I’m going to pretend that means I beat 72% of people. For once my lack of math smarts makes me feel better!

Nice spot!

I was Wout van Aert last year, and I’m Filippo Ganna this year! :muscle:

Or 80% of them.

I’m in the 90% percentile too! Wait a minute… :eyes:

Sorry…reminded me of this old meme screenshot

In a room of 1000 cyclists I’m faster than 91 of them :rofl::rofl:

@Nate, sorry to dis what was probably a lot of work, but “Comparisons are odious” i only want to see if I’m improving, not interested in my position in the bell curve.

I want to show a rank of where you are and then you can see that go up. IE if you improve 5 watts, what does that do to your overall ranking? Like relatively how much faster are you?

Your comparison to yourself is still there under your career → Cyling Records section.

I appreciate the new pages. This basic info has been requested countless times on the forum so I know it will be welcomed by many.

Thats understandable and desirable, but most don’t understand the given percentile statistically, and when I see references to the .0001% of (named) professionals in the profile of types, i get turned right off.

I’ve been playing competitive fortnight ballistics lately. I got to the highest rank (unreal), and now it ranks me globally.

If I go from #30,231 to 29,231 it feels like a big win! Even though I’m not (and will never be) close to the top of the rank.

So basically I’m agreeing with you. Having a way to judge yourself long term would be nice.

Would love to see this have more detail, maybe something like this.

That’s a cool chart, but it displays the data a bit differently.

When you do stacked are charts like that, it’s hard to compare. IE is your relative ranking better in 10min, 1 hour, or 30 seconds?

Definitely, could probably do something like this but I get the keeping it easier to quickly parse.

Are TrainerRoad users stronger sprinters than Invervals.icu users? In Invervals.icu I’m at 99.9% for 5s, 100% for 30s, and 100% for 60s (set to all males, ~110,000 users), but in TR I’m only 95.2% for 5s, and 98.1% for 60s.

Nate, what’s the population size for the TR stats?

Is this ranking for every user, every age… or is your percentile base on your age group?

Also interested in the logic. I’m a climber (never been called that before, as a 75kg time trialist). intervals.icu usually has me as an all-rounder.

In TR ranking, did you switch to W/kg view?

TR & intervals.icu have opposite defaults (W vs W/kg).

Is that your profile? Is that saying you’re world class from about 1min to 20min? Wow.

I don’t really understand it - is higher percentile good or bad!

apparently im a puncheur

in this case higher is better. Depends on the phrasing. Either you are n the top 99,9% percentile, or you are in the top 0,1% percent

both phrases convey the same idea but with different wording:

99.9th percentile means you performed better than 99.9% of people.
You are in the top 0.1% means you are among the best 0.1% of people.

They both describe the same ranking, just from different perspectives. Here they use percentile
