When I started my plan for 2025 the exact date for my A-event was not announced yet, so I used an estimate based on last years event, a plan was generated and I started training.
At some point I found out that the A-event was announced and is to take place 2 weeks later than the estimated date I had entered. So I went to my plan and changed the date of the event, expecting that the plan would adapt accordingly. However this did not happen.
Now I am wondering if I should just keep training and it will adapt later, when the event is approaching? Alternatively I could try to generate a new plan but I am not sure how well this works, I am already midway through the second base block. Any ideas/suggestions?
Your current plan will not adapt because your A event will take place 2 weeks after your current plan ends. Any events you add to your Calendar that fall outside of the date range of your current plan will not trigger your current plan to adapt.
Deleting your current plan and creating a new one would be the best approach here. Instructions on how to delete your current plan can be found here if needed.
To make sure the new plan you generate lines up with where you are now in your current plan, you can “backdate” it by setting its start date as the same as your original plan. Here’s what that step in Plan Builder will look like:
I checked the dates on your current plan and it looks like it started on Oct. 21 – so just set that as your start date for your new plan and you should be all set.
Let me know if you need any help getting all of that sorted out or if you have any additional questions!
I understand that this “backdating” was the way to do it with the old Plan Builder, but since the new Plan Builder looks back at what you’ve been doing is that still necessary? I’m curious because I am thinking about changing my A event also and was just going to delete the plan I started a couple weeks ago and make a new plan.
I just checked in with the team that worked on the Plan Builder updates about this.
We do have a smoother way to do it now!
If you simply edit your plan and add an event that falls out of the plan’s original date range, Plan Builder will adapt things accordingly for you.
If you click on your plan’s name annotation on your Calendar (or on any of the training phase annotations), you’ll see a button that says “Edit Plan” – here’s what it looks like:
Once your events are added, Plan Builder will rebuild your plan with those new dates incorporated. No need to delete your original and backdate a new one anymore!
