Non TR Programme use of trainer

I am using TR in conjunction with other sessions being developed by my son as my PT. Some of his cardio sessions are simply a number of CV calories over a rough time.

I have access to Concept2 rower, an elliptical trainer and my Wahoo Kickr Core. The first two display calories burned.

What is the best way to use the Wahoo using the TR app to get an instant/continuous calories burned figure?

If its a steady effort, total Kcal burn per hour is:

Average Watts x 3.6

  • Wahoo own app shows it.
  • TR app middle pane (with current interval bar) has it also: swipe it left, there are bunch of numeric values, including total kJ. This is good enough approximation for kcal.

Thanks guys. I was thinking more of the “mode” to be used for the trainer. Obviously I need to tell it that I am just cycling and not following a profile created by a training app, that is, I don’t want to be in ERG mode. The options on the Wahoo page are:

Passive, Target Power (ERG), Resistance, Simulation

Given it will be a relatively short time with high effort what which mode would suit best?
